Hello Ulla!
I have to say that this is one of my favourite bird species too :) Very rare in Poland and hardly to find. I had oportunity to see it only a few times in the wild. It is always very impressive thanks to the colours and beautiful and unusual "panache" on the top of head :)

This bird is wide-spread in India, Ulla.
It can be seen even in the urban neighbourhoods and visits lawns and garden, looking for bugs in the ground.
This fellow looks sprightly and alert in your picture.
Good point of view and nice DOF despite the distance.

One of my favorites also. I have only seen them in India and could never get close enough for a good shot either. I would have been thrilled with one like this. The colors are great and he is nice and sharp. Adorable shot.

Great pose of this splendid bird.I like point of view and composition.This Hoopoe live in our land,but I've never haven't seen his,it is a pity.Beautiful colors and good blurry BG too.Very informative note.

Not your best quality, but very nice composition on this hoopoe.
I have never been in the Canary Islands, and you are showing that besided the turistical attractions there is a lovely nature to Trek around.
I should be ashamed that being spanish I have never been there :)
