Today's post is one more bird from my Ölands visit. I am not sure about ID of this little one so I need help. I think or guess that this is Red-throated Pipit or Richards pipit, probably juvenile or first year. I found this one on the stone wall close to the road taking sunbath. I used my 5D @ 800mm and photographed through my car window. I have more shots of this bird from different view which I can show/post if someone need more information about ID.

Regards
Ralf

Some info about Red-throated Pipit which I think this little one is :)

The Red-throated Pipit (Anthus cervinus) is a small passerine bird which breeds in the far north of Europe and Asia, with a foothold in northern Alaska. It is a long-distance migrant moving in winter to Africa, south and east Asia and west coast USA. It is a vagrant to western Europe.

This is a small pipit, with adults easily identified in the breeding season by their brick red face and throat. In other plumages this is an undistinguished looking species, heavily streaked brown above, with whitish mantle stripes, and with black markings on a white background below. Its flight is strong and direct, and it gives a characteristic "psii" call.

The breeding habitat is open country including mountains, marshland and tundra. The nest is on the ground, on a hummock in a marsh, with 4-6 eggs being laid. The Red-throated Pipit is insectivorous, like its relatives, but also eats seeds.

I can't identify this little one Ralf but I know that it is a wonderful capture, so close and detailed. Exposure and lightning are natural and beautiful! Thanks,
Claudine

Hello Ralf,
Superb image. Beautiful light.
I verified the lens and surprised to see 'the big one'.
How are your experiences?
Maybe you can answer my question....
I never used these 3 settings (one is ))) and the other is I believe 'preset' or so...What is their purpose? I didn't receive a manual when I purchased it.

Hello Ralf,
very nice picture. Great light.
It is a winchat. Most probably juvenile if I see the small spots on the breast

Hej Ralf,
This is a fine capture of a juvenile Winchat, buskskvätta, with superb lighting, sharpness and composition. The BG is excellent too. Well done and TFS!
Hälsningar,
Ivan

Ralf,
Jacob is right as should be evident from the general jizz, facial markings, tarsometatarsal coloration, bill length, etc. Certainly, a Whinchat - a first year bird.

Jacob - not always can you see the breast spotting especially in the latter part of the first year, and I can't see it here. However, there is another juvenile feature that I can still make out on this bird - the white tips on the wing coverts.

And Ivan is right too! He got in under the gun while I was typing!
