[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
While Ulla was photographing Coltsfoot I noticed a Solitary Bee on one of the flowers.

A little research and scrutiny of the vein pattern of the wings led to to the conclusion that this is the male of Andrena fulva. While the male is almost entirely black, the female is larger and is generally a russet brown.

With some 60 species Andrena is the largest genus of solitary bees in Sweden and many are hard to identify. As I am not a hymenopterist I am open to correction of the ID.

Solitary Bees a re mostly ground dwellers, burrowing a chamber with cells. The larvae are fed with balls of pollen.

Using my 420 mm telephoto combination this is the nearest I can get to a macro.

Olá Ivan

Eu nunca tinha visto esta flor, suas pétalas são bem diferentes, bem especiais. As cores são ótimas e fazem bonito contraste. Boa composição e luz. Bom trabalho.

Abraços,
Vera.

Hello Ivan!
Very nice presentation or really small bee species. As I see it was only about 7-8 mm.
I agree with your ID to genus level (it is Andrena member in 100%), but the species... well, to difficult for me :)
According to quality of photo it is a pitty that DOF is not on the insect head too :) Anyway, bravo for non-commercial insect species!! :)
Best regards,
Radomir

good focus on the wings but for the composition it 's to easy for me !!
aleks

Hello Ivan,
This solitary bee is really dig deep for nectar. Well shown vein pattern to appreciate. I also like overall composition of this picture. Very well done and tfs.

Hello Ivan,
Nice macro of this bee with his face buried in the honey pot.
Great color and sharp focus makes this a fine capture.

hi Ivan
nous avons le même problème technique, un léger manque de DOF. Cependant, l'image est bien colorée, la point de vue bien choisi.

Hi Ivan,
this is an unusual combination of Coltsfoot and a "diving" Andrena (species determination agreed), a successful composition. The head is not quite sharp but the wings are, beautifully. Thanks for showing.
My best regards,
Dietrich
