Hi Ivan. It was worth the getting up early for this one. I have a few days of so i must do the same . The light in the picture of the little Wagtail is first class. Which has given warm colours. even from 10 meters this is a fine shot with good detail. a nice POV/DOF. well done TFS.

Lighting is everything - and you've done a great job using it here, Ivan. I love the colors you've brought out in not only the bird, but the background surrounding it. Looks like the light is softly washing over him, but still hasn't quite reached the area behind him. Very cool effect!! A great capture of the little bird, with wonderful detail despite the heavy cropping. I'm impressed! Penny

I agree with you, Ivan. The light of the dawn casts a magical spell on things. Your picture shows the effect of this light very forcefully in this lovely capture of a Wagtail.

Isn't dawn a wonderful time as you show here??? the human mind works a bit slowly but nature and light in this instance are always forgiving....A fine capture and teh almost boulder on which it stands is worthy of note as well..I am wondering what it is? Granite? I see lichen on it..and I see the glow of some mineral of some sort..being a gold panner...I am always looking not only for golden colours but for other things in geologic forms which indicate something more than "just a rock"....lovely overall colour Ivan.

Wowwww. my friend Ivan what a beautiful and excellent capture of this very beautiful Blue-headed Yellow Wagtail. This is the one of two best bird capture which I have seen today (the other is of James) Perfect! TFS. and of course it should be take its place in my favs.

A great capture ot from the hide,the colors and details are really great,I went yesterday evening for a walk and I spotted 2 wild boars,unfortunately they saw me probably first,but perhaps I will have a go with the hide as well later this leave,thanks for sharing and regards from the North

Hi Ivan,

They say the early bird catches the worm - the only time I'm up that early is for an airplane. The lighting is magnificent! The Wagtail just glows. Colors are wonderful, details are razor sharp, pose is great and the background is fantastic.

Superb capture of the Wagtail enjoying the beautiful Dawn light, I'm normally heading to work at this time so I know how nice it can be.

I have to say that one of my favourite element of composition in photography is simplicity. And this picture has it, and it is kept in perfect way! :>
For the first view "only" a bird on the stone, but what we need more? Especially if DOF, sharpness, colours of late afternoon are very good.

THe early morning sun exaggerated the warm colorings of this wagtail beautifully, almost saturating the yellows my friend, so not every early riser captures the worm, some capture the bird itself! Lucky for us, eh dostum?

This one is all about the light.
The low raking light has given this photo a unique twist along the beautiful golden tinge.
The yellows on this Wagtail are so vibrent!
