[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Tawny Owl is a common species and is spread all over Europe, except norhtern Scandinavia and Russia. It often lives close to man, and has there nest in tree holes, big nestboxes and barns.
The young birds leave the nest before they can fly and you often find them sitting on the ground, on a stone or a low branch. You can also be sure that the parents are not far away and if you get too close they sometimes attack you.
This nice guy I found in a conifer forest just a few kilometers from home. I was close to it and you can almost see the photographer in the reflecting eyes.

You couldn't much closer than this to this Tawny Owlet!
The sharpness of this portrait is great and the composition with the eyes placed slanting is very pleasing. Yes I can just make out the photographer in its eyes!

Hello Hans,

This is a great portret of this baby owl. You have chosen a very unusual but well looking POV. Fosuing on the bird's eyes proved to be a great idea as the well adapted DOF shows nice details all over the image.

I can hardly believe that you got this close to this owlet. This is amazing. The slight tilt of the head and the cute expression is effective. Nice exposure and sharpness too
