there is an admirable soft quality to this image Ulla. You make the image not harsh to look at becuase of colour. And it looks as though you didn't do too much in PP at all..A wonderful picture. I so much appreciate you and Ivan and wish that one day we could meet!

Hello Ulla,

Although the image, especially the Siskin is pin sharp, the image also radiates a most wonderful softness.
Excellent DOF and square format framed.
Very beautiful colors and soft BG.
The twig the bird is on is a little over exposed, but as the Siskin is the main subject in the image, that's just a minor flaw.

When we consider the aptness of diagonal placement of the subject within the frame, I think your image represents the ideal in that respect, Ulla. It is quite apparent that you shot the Siskin in this natural pose from a very effective POV and the result is just marvellous.

A textbook capture in fine definition Ulla, the sharply delineated specimen almost jumps towards our eyes over the enchantingly blurry BG. The colours are a little on the warm side, probably a result of the setting sun.

I don't often use the word 'cheeky' with birds but this one has a cheeky face! Perhaps it's the eye contact or maybe the chubby face and the angle of the beak!

You have captured the details of its plummage beautifully! I like the way it is holding on to the angled twig; that does suggest that it is quite acrobatic!

Hi Ulla, this is very find detail seen on this male Siskin. The shot is well composed with the bird on that angled branch. I like too how the other branch over him seems to frame him into the shot. Depth of field is good, and you have great colour on the bird and leaves of the tree.

A great close-up from you and another superb shot taken with the TC on "the old" S2 :) I really do miss that camera sometimes...

The details you were able to get here are terrific especially since this is a small-sensor camera. The colors are also very beautiful and vibrant and make the little cute siskin stand out well even from the thumbnail.
Very good DOF and exposure settings, but perhaps i like the nice diagonal lines drawn by the branches and the composition they create even better :)
Anyway, very nice job!

sorry I couldnt visit your last shots. Now, I can visit some of them. This is one of the great capture of beautiful siskin. Focus, POV, eyes contact great, but dark BG and its contrast to Siskin's yellowish colors great. Great presentation and work. Thanks for sharing, best wishes
