What a splendid capture of this handsome male damsel fly....yes they tend to flit around but are always kind enough to pose a few seconds to allow us a photo-op:)Lovely details here..its gossamer wings shine further in the sun...great sharpness, contrasts and colour.And thank you for sharing this...

Hi Ulla,

I see you are using your G7 more and more and doing a great job with it. This Damselfly is beautiful - colors and details are excellent. I love the pose on the leaf - wonderful composition. We are actually cool today - a high of 84F - but just for one day. There is a storm north of us and unfortunately we won't get a drop of the rain.

Excellent close up, here. My first thought is that you must have a very steady hand - my second thought is: why can't I do that?

I love the details of the eyes (they remind me, somewhat, of a preying mantis), and the way it appears oblivious to you. The DOF is great because it allows the blue to shout out to the viewer and the POV makes me feel eye-level with this damsilfly. There's texture here, but also fragility. Thank you for taking the time to post - and your notes are very informative - the sort of notes I love. Thank you.

Hello Ulla,

This macro has fine details.
The wings look like lace and the legs look incredibly delicate; how good that you the shadows of them too!

Super colours and a very good composition.

I watched Spring Watch on the television yesterday and saw parent birds bringing damsel flies and dragon flies back to the nests for their nestlings. Incredibly tiny birds were consuming these large flies whole!
Amazing!

Ulla, I remember your images of this very pretty Damselfly from last year too.
You are an expert in this special field with this species proving to be your best model.
It is a delightful picture with the subject sitting atop a shapely long blade of grass.
And thanks for your kind words on my Egret picture. It was a stroke of luck for me to encounter in on my way to the school near my house.
