[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I just realised that though I have taken a number of dragon and damselfly shots this year, I haven't posted a single one of them yet.

This is a young female Small Bluetail (Ischnura pumilio), being slightly smaller than the closely related Common Bluetail. The markings on the back of her head and the neck part, the pronotum deciding the ID.

Here she has not become sexually mature but when she matures this beautiful orange colour gives way to a greyish blue and the dark brown turns black. The total length is less than 3cm.

She becomes similar to the male that is mostly blue and black as shown in the WORKSHOP.

Though widespread and sometimes common in most of Europe the Small Bluetail is rare in Sweden, occuring in a few habitats in the South. This was taken is a local gravel pit.

This is another example of the closest I can get in the macro potential of my 420mm equipment, the image being taken at a distance of abot 1.8 meters with the camera hand-held. After moderate cropping and size reduction the image was selectively sharpened.

Hi Ivan, lovely composition. The diagonal insect and stem is excellent. Colours are good and natural, super DoF and fine PoV. I do not live near water, so I do not get to see many dragonflies and damselflies, this one is first class.

Hi Ivan
Thanks for sharing this lovely image. I like the POV, colours and framing on this one.
Cheers
Sue

Ivan, this picture of a beautiful golden Damselfly is perfect in every respect. The diagonal placement of the subject within the frame couldn't be better than this. With your converter, you have produced a super sharp and very colourful image.
Thanks for sharing it and take care.

Hello Ivan, Very nice shot of this beautiful damselfly. I am seeing such fly for the first time and you have shot this with superb focus and presented it nice. Ganesh

Observing the wonders of nature via your lens is a real pleasure Ivan, maybe one of the reasons why I'm still in Izmir! Again, you've captured an exquisite beauty here, TFS it with us my friend.

Hi Ivan,

It amazes me how you can identify all these different dragonflies! A beautiful close-up of this young Small Bluetail with her lovely golden colors. Good details of the entire insect and I love the way she is grasping the reed. A superb diagonal composition with a good blurred background. She looks more like her name in the workshop.

Hi Ivan

Nice to see you posting some Odonatas, too, my friend!
This is indeed a great macro, showing this (although common) not-so-posted Ischnura pumilio in its orage form very nicely.
The colors are really beautiful and the markings on its body are very well visible, making this a great shot for a spot-on ID of the species.

The diagonal composition is also great, the sharpness is excellent and the exposure on the damsel is very well chosen. It perhaps lead to a slight overexposure on the twig it is on, but this is really something that you should worry too much.
Well shot and presented, with a nice WS photos, too.

Bravo and TFS
Horia

Hi Ivan,
A very nicely composed photograph. Colors of this damselfly are captured well. You must have rock-steady hands, to get this sharp image from a handheld camera. Thanks
Ali
