Hi Ulla,

The water lily alone would be marvelous but it became something really special with the four little white headed insects. The yellows, whites, and greens are beautiful. Excellent details of the flower and the flys. The dark background is perfect.

Beautiful picture of this water lily. Excellent sharpness and beautiful colours. Perhaps is it possible to do a zoom on the flies and to post it in WS. The only species I know with white face is a fly from the Conopidae family, myopa sp..

We're neighbours again in the gallery. :) Very nice shot, awesome contrast between the water lily and the carpet-alike black of the bg. Nice focus, details - simply a great photo, pleasant to the eyes. The almost invisible frame's not my cup of tea, but this is personal.

I actually like the black against the white. The white isn't hot and I love the little black flies. The contrast of light and dark accentuate this lily. Thank you for sharing.

Really dramatic set against the black Ulla..
I like the low-key exposure and those little points of sparkle about this beautiful water lily. Being too dark is in the eye of the beholder anyway..
And those curious little white-faced flies add some mystery :}

Hi Ulla,

Very good capture of Water Lily with the usual visitors. That is a sight I miss from Finland. I haven't seen these in UK. Good composition, POV and sharp details. Colours are nice bright natural.

This white-faced flies are very interesting. Somebody, I just don't remember whom, has presented one not too long ago. I never saw one of these, may be never noticed them. Interesting that they pose on a white flower.

Hi Ulla,
This is a dream.....:Contrary to your concern of the shot not coming out well since you captured the lily in the dark, this shot is really beautiful.

I like the unconventional cpature you have made here with the dark environmnet in which the lone lily stands out.Its colours are a stark contrasts against the darkness around.The white-faced flies are a bonus in this composition.And yes, i have n'ver seen flies with that kind of faces and would love to know what species are they.
