I am sure this one is some sort of picturewing fly. But I am not sure about its exact ID. A nice dedication for Marie. I am sure she will like it and will be able to ID it. Very good details and a lovely composition. Thanks a lot for sharing.

Would you believe that last night before bed I took a short walk out nearby...and saw a small insect that looked as this somewhat. My camera was in the pocket..My spare point and shoot but the creature was too fast. This was not too fast for you....quick picture indeed..I call them grab shots...a term originally used in news work, for "fill"...Something to take up that small blank spot. Keep it interesting but not overblown. Very nicely done Ulla!

PS: I think it belongs to the Ulidiidae family (Picture-winged fly), perhaps Chaetopsis sp.

This is really rather a strange fly Ulla,and,yes,quite beautiful too.
It almost looks robotic in those metallic colours.
(You didn't hear it whirring by any chance?)

Very interesting and indeed beautifull catch! Composition is good, same as details. I like patterns on wings and colours on body. Good light. I didn't saw this kind of fly before.
