[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is just in memory of a windy day last summer, a day when butterfly photography seemed a hopeless pursuit. Just for fun I had a go at this Meadow Brown that was desperately clinging onto a black Knapweed flower. I quite liked the result although the butterfly was rather too much in the centre but I didn't feel a crop would do this shot any justice as I liked the movement of the grasses.

Ulla
Wonderful Meadow brown in the lovely wind of summer.
Great colors and light!
Mariana

Taken 7 days before my birthday.....it has a nice mix which ALMOST makes it look a bit of fall...due to the wild grasses or oats which are included. This is truly an environmental shot which so many people overlook. Our world is a mix and it isn't all about macros...much of it includes the location which you have included so well!

Hi Ulla. Not the best day for butterfly pictures. But what this picture shows is a sence of movment. With fine detail inr the colourful Knapweed flowers. Your use of the bright light has given natural colours. Well worth showing. thanks for posting.

Hi Ulla!

Not to center a subject isn't an absolute rule. Here, it would be a pitty to sacrify some of these beautiful grass haulmes. They "frame" the butterfly at best. Moreover the flowers create sort of a diagonal line that leads our eye to the butterfly and kills the effect of the centered subject. A beautiful image!

Kind regards

Markus

Beautiful scene - it's serene. Love the colors but I'm always drawn to purple. Nice strong sharpness.

hello Ulla
bravo, that it did not enlarge or cut,in order to you show us an other butterfly closely,as it is got used, but you give us with your composition this beautiful scene, wonderful photo output!

Hi Ulla,

I like this beautiful composition, reflecting very well the wind blowing. You can even feel how the butterfly struggles to cling to the flower.

Well done!

Ishi

Hello Ulla
this picture is great at it is, even the butterfly is too centered, while the composition is amazing, the wind effect on the grass, the purple flowers, the nice butterfly and the delicate colors are superb, and all with very sharp details and beautiful lighting
Have a good night

Hello Ulla,
It's such a peaceful picture, Ulla. The world here seems to be in order, and we almost can feel the soft wind..
Beautiful piece of meadow which you present with natural and fine colors. A kind of poetical pictures I like a lot.

Hi Ulla,
as the others said before me, this is a wonderful moody picture ("stimmungsvoll" in German) even when some of the "rules" seem to be violated: main object dead-centered, not zoomed into the butterfly enough and what-have-you. You are on track, Ulla!
Best regards
Dietrich
