This is from our garden in the woods in Smaland (means litteland). The autumn makes the leaves glow with intense colours. We have lots of big oaks, birches and maples where there most of the times are lots of birds.

Today this Treecreeper (Certhia familiaris/trädkrypare) showed itself for just a few seconds. They are so quick and moves all the time so I had a hard time getting a decent photo of it. Unfortunately there's a branch in the way and the head moves a bit... but I thought the colours and the lightning makes it worthwhile to upload here anyhow even though it's not perfect.... ;o)

From Wikipedia:
Certhia is the genus of birds containing the typical treecreepers, which together with the Spotted Creeper make up the family Certhidae.

The typical treecreepers are all very similar in appearance, and can present serious identification problems where two species occur together. They do not normally migrate other than for local movements.

The treecreepers are small woodland birds, brown above and white below. They have thin pointed down-curved bills, which they use to extricate insects from bark. They have stiff tail feathers, like woodpeckers, which they use to support themselves on vertical trees.

Nests are in tree crevices or behind bark.

Following recent studies of cytochrome b mtDNA sequence and song structure (Tietze et al., 2006), the following species are recognized:

Hej Bengt,
Lovely capture of the little Treecreeper - I saw one today but it got away quickly! Excellent sharp capture and I like the fine tail feathers here. Lovely colours and a fine autumnal composition.
TFS and best wishes, Ulla

Beautiful image...such clarity,...very nice POV

Hi Bengt,
I find your Treecreeper lovely. The composition is very good, the light, the sharpness, the tremendous claws, the nice background. To think, how small and brownish these treecrepers are, yet you made it look interesting. Well done! I tried a workshop to see if I can improve the dark parts. What do you think about it?
My best regards,
Dietrich

Hi Bengt!

First I stopped on your picture because of the color tones that caught my interest. In fact, I'm pleased by the warm and typically autumnal colors, and then I realized how well the bird is integrated in this environement. You have also realized a good composition with the diagonal formed by the branch and the bird on the right place.

Concerning the WS, I personally prefer your version.

Kind regards

Markus

Hello Bengt,
Beautiful autumnal atmosphere in your picture. I like the attitude of this cute little bird posed on this branch covered with lichen. Interesting diagonal composition and nice colored background. Well seen
