[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Both the flower and the butterfly are not in full focus, but together I think they are attractive and interesting enough to post in this image.

The butterfly, the Cranberry Blue (Vacciniina optilete)i fairly common in Sweden as it is found on or near bogs, which is a widespread and common habitat in Fennoscandia. It is also found in Germany and the European Alps where there is a suitable bog habitat.

In Swedish it is called 'Violettblåvinge' as the wings have a purply tinge, which is why I focused on the upper surfaces of the wings.

The larval host plants are various species of Vaccinium and the butterfly is on the wing from June to august. Apart from the special habitat, it is easy to distinguish from other blues by the large dominant orange and black spot on the underside of the hindwing.

The flower is that of a species of Potentilla, the marsh Cinquefoil (P. palustris). It is common in the whole of Fennoscandia wherever there are marshes and bogs. The English name comes from the French and refers to its five-bladed leaves. The flowers are attractive to butterflies and other insects.

This image was taken with the camera hand-held at a distance of a bout 1.8 meters. After cropping and size reduction it was selectively sharpened.

Hi Ivan!

As you wrote both subjects are partially out of focus, but definitely worth to be published. I like softness of this picture, good composition and BG.

Hi Ivan,
It's a work of art. Very well done.
Congratulations and thanks for sharing.

An interesting picture in pastel...for sure it is pastel like in appearance...and nothing other over saturated to take control, so this becomes a piece of visual poetry in nature. What an eye for a guy!!
Bob

Buena composición y oportunidad al poder verse las alas delanteras y traseras.

Hola Ivan,
Preciosa composición, la luz, color y fondo son preciosos, excelente nota como es habitual en tus publicaciones, gracias por compartir estas bellezas. Saludos
José Ramón

Hi Ivan,
Certainly the image is very appealing.
You have created an excellent composition with the inclined pose of the butterfly and the flower.
The colour of the flower is so vivid and works as an accent for the picture.
Congratulations and thanks for share it.
My best regards,
JM

Hello Ivan,
Its not necessary for everything to be perfectly sharp in order to make an excellent, artistic image. In this case, the pale red and blue of the plant/wing are just wonderful as a colour combination. The only thing for me that makes this 9/10 instead of 10/10 is the OOF stem in the right BG. I'm going to try to "clone" this out in CS3 and post a workshop to see if you can spot the traces. Thanks greatly.
Alan

Hi Ivan. Before Tn i would have said its not in focus its no good, but i have learnt to look at a shot in more detail to see things a bit different. and yes this is very nice. good soft colours. with good detail in parts that matter. a good POV/DOF. well done TFS.
Nick..

the focus is not perfect, but the composition is so wonderful that it deserves its two points

No doubt the two of them make a fine composition, Ivan.
There are certain features of the flower which have come out very well in this capture.
Thanks and take care.

This is a very artistic composition with wonderful subtle colours. Something else, but very attractive, indeed. This is good about TN, all sorts of expression can be shown. Thanks and best regards
