Hi Ivan,
I rather like your little plover as it looks so very innocent.The yellow ring is a beautiful detail that this bird has as the only ones I have seen are the Killdeers that live here with their red eye rings.Your colour and details are both good however your focus is off a little,however an enjoyable photo just the same.Thank you Ivan and have a happy new year!

Hallo Ivan
You mention in your notes that the technical qualities are not as good as you would have liked. Luckily I am new to the field of photography because I don't see anything that is not good. This is a lovely shot of this Little Ringed Plover and yes that yellow eye really makes this a special photograph. I like the shine in the eye, and the shy kind of look this bird has. I also like the blurred out upper and back part of the photo but the part in the front being in focus. Thanks for sharing.

Splendid photo of this little Plover!
Superb eye-contact and a great POV that brings us down to his level.
Nice colours and I love that yellow eye-ring.
The exposure is perfect and the lighting soft and even.
Great DOF that blurs the BG really well.
Pin-point focusing as well.
Sharp with great detail.
I think a boost of contrast would make the photo "pop".
Otherwise the photo is impeccable!

Hello Ivan,
did you tell the little plover it nearly stepped on to some goose droppings. Nice capture of a bird which is not uncommon but I never really managed to get a good picture of it. Hope to be that lucky (or skillfull :-)) as you were with this picture.

Plovers are easy for me to recognize, as there were many a species of plover and piper on the beaches of Mendocino. At that time many years ago I wasn't thinking much about them or their species...just darned birds...but things have changed as I have become older...and this is certainly as stated in your notes Ivan..a definite yellow ring, obvious to even the casual onlooker. A fine capture for a winters day in the archives!

A Beautiful Plover. TFS.
Ivan, I have observed a very funny thing about birds. Whenever they see you with a camera, they immediately turn their back towards you. Do they feel safer in this posture, or do they want to say, come have a picture of my bum. Very rarely I have been able to shoot a bird from the front.
