Today's post is one of my fav's, The Blue Tits.
I took it for 2 days ago when it was cold, -15C
It's a very commnon here and they stay the winter.
He seems to have a good time in the sunlight, but that's an illusion, the sun don't warm up this time of year. But he looks nice in the sunlight, he has ruffle up the feathers to stay warm.
I hope you like him.

Some info about the Blue Tit.

The striking Blue on the wings, tail and especially on the crown make the Blue Tit an easy bird to identify. It is also the only British tit, apart from Crested, to have a dark stripe through the eye, a feature by which the yellower juveniles can be identified.
Breeds and winters in woods, parks, orchards, hedgerows and gardens.
A very abundant and widespread bird, present everywhere except Orkney and Shetland. In winter, varying numbers of continental birds increase the local population in southern and eastern England.
Widespread and numerous in most of Europe.
3 300 000 territories across much of Britain with over a million in Ireland.
16-21 million breeding pairs widespread across Europe (representing 75% of this species range). Absent only from northern Scandinavia.

excellent sharpness, DOF and colours.
I like very much.
congrats !

Hi Gert,
when people are thick or fat - than nobody wants to see this. But your thick bird is soooo cute and pretty. I love it.
Also excellent warm colours, perfect, thanks

Its lovely light Gert. The details is very sharp in the DOF but the DOF is a bit shallow with the beak dropping out of the DOF. Great shot non ethe less. Well doen.

These are really lovely birds though I don't see them too often in my neighbourhood.
Picture is very good technically and nicely framed. I like the warm colours a lot.
WELL DONE!

You feed him too well maybe ;-)
Very nice warm colours, can't believe it was that cold. Excellent compo though the BG is a bit cluttered and bright.
In any case a wonderful shot.

Gert, maybe a little bit more of sharpness?

Or maybe something like f/8?

Anyway, I enjoy the picture.

Great lighting - despite the coldness - and pov.

I like pose and colors too.

Hello Gert!
Excellent capture.I liked warm lighting,catchlight in eyes,POV,clear details,sharpness,framing,colors and your fat,cute model a lot.TFS...:-)

Very nice composition and lighting for this cute little blue tit, a tad soft on the head area, still a great shot. It looks like it's enjoying the sun very much. :)

Great capture Gert. I like the warm color and frost covered branch I see..Very good detail and composed well also. -15C...very cold!!
Well done my friend.

Hi Gert,
This is an excellent shot. Very spot on exposure with the colors being beautiful in this light. The detail is razor sharp in the plumage. I have to agree with Gerhard that the DOF falls off just on the birds beak.
A real beauty!
Scott

Good detail and colours. Great POV and sharpness.
Nicely composed and good exposure.

Hi Gert
