Blue Tit, Blåmes.
I took this for a couple of days ago, it was a cold day -15C to -20C. I took a walk in the park to hang up some tallow balls for the tits and I was very welcome, they had eaten all up. This fellow came 2 sec after I had hang up the ball, so I suppose he was hungry.
I'm not keen on to shoot by the feeder but this one pose very nicely so I took a shot, maybe it's his way to say thanx.

Some info about the Blue Tit.

The striking Blue on the wings, tail and especially on the crown make the Blue Tit an easy bird to identify. It is also the only British tit, apart from Crested, to have a dark stripe through the eye, a feature by which the yellower juveniles can be identified.
Breeds and winters in woods, parks, orchards, hedgerows and gardens.
A very abundant and widespread bird, present everywhere except Orkney and Shetland. In winter, varying numbers of continental birds increase the local population in southern and eastern England.
Widespread and numerous in most of Europe.
3 300 000 territories across much of Britain with over a million in Ireland.
16-21 million breeding pairs widespread across Europe (representing 75% of this species range). Absent only from northern Scandinavia.

Canon 70-300/4.0-5.6 IS USM, Kenko 1.4X converter, Hand held camera.
ISO 200, Raw-format, AV-mode, One-shot autofocus.
Convert, Levels, Contrast, Crop, resized to 800 pixels, Smart Sharpen on the B/W channel in lab-colours. I used Adobe Photoshop CS2 for PP

Beautiful colours and very cute. DOF is very good and I like the composition.

Well Done

I think this is one of the most beautiful of all bird species -- but then I am partial to all the little songbirds anyway. You have gotten great feather detail on this one. Great capture!

Hi Gert

Excellent composition, good color and definition. Excellent POV.
Thank you and Regards
JC

Hej Gert.
Another exellent shot. I'm beginning to think that you are a professional photografer. It really doesn't matter if you are, the pic is still superb. Nice colours and so sharp as it nearly hurts.
Good work as always.
Regards
Per

Briliant photo even with the feeder ball. Crystal clear colours and amazing sharpness. Striking how some photos that breach the socalled rule of thirds still turn out to be so exceptional. I just love your reflection in the eye. Well done and thanks for sharing.
