I took this Great Tit today, it was a very nice day, Clear blue sky, very sunny and not so cold -8C.
But the night was not good for the birds, full snow storm and -15C, I was very welcome when I came down to the park with som tally balls.
This Tit as turn the heat on, ruffle up its feathers.
And he has eaten snow, they can not find fresh water so they eat snow instead.
The Tits are always looking for food in the winter.
They manage a normal winter by their own but they don’t say no to a helping hand.

Some info about the Great Tit.
In Great Tits the typical black and white face pattern is embellished by a broad black stripe which runs from the throat down the middle of the bright yellow belly. This characteristic black and yellow pattern is boldest on the males and duller on the females but is still visible even on the juveniles

Hello Gert!
Excellent fat bird capture again;).Sharpness, clear details,POV,framing and composition are wonderful as always.TFS...:-)

Hi Gert,
I'm jealous of this blue sky - when I look outside I also see this blue tits, but no blue sky - grey grey grey, brrrrrr.
This bird is so pretty, I love the sharpness and the little snow on his beak.
Today there was a hawfinch here, but so fast away, I had no chance to make a shot. Anyway it was very impressive to see this bird the first time in my life. Perhaps he will visit me again, I hope.
Have a wonderful sunday, bye

What an endearing picture! The fellow has some ice sticking to its beak; hope the beak is not frozen!

Nicely captured Gert!

Don't you love it when the snow sticks to their beaks this way, I know that I do...

Superb details, colors, POV, exposure and BG.

Very well fed-looking bird!

Thank you for sharing him with us!

ps. I envy you the sunshine, we have had almost none for some time now. Enjoy!

Hello Ellstrom,

Great picture , i am way to small to comment technically all i can say is the colours and the sharpness is picture perfect. Happy week end ,

Gert, our countries are indeed very different. In your note, you've mentioned the weather was not very cold, even with a temperature of -8C. I've never experienced such a temperature. In the region I live, believe me, +15C means a VERY cold weather. It's summer now, and I guess that at this moment the temperature must be around +30C.

As for the shot, another perfect one, as expected.

The bird is cute and the image is rather funny - and that's nice.

Hi Gert,
what a great capture with that ring of snow around the beak.
Great detail with good natural colours. TFS

Regards
Terry.

Wow, this great tit really got himself all puffed up. He looks completely round. And the snow (?) on its beak is a nice touch.
A beautiful portrait with incredible sharpness. TFS. : )

Hi Gert,

What a beautiful ball of fluff Gert. I love the look of the snow on his beak. But I feel so sorry for your beautiful birds in the snow and cold, but from the look of his feathers they are quite acclimatised for the weather.
It is a stunning portrait, excellent sharpness, details and colours. Well shown my friend, tfs...
