Thanks for the first year and I’m looking forward to the next.

Wow that is such a great close up. I went out yesterday in the rain and ventured into the forest nearby. Saw a large green grasshopper but did not think about taking a shot. Now you have made me think twice about these little subjects. Very nice shot, super stuff thanks for sharing.

Hi Gert,
This photograph is really fantastic. The grasshopper looks like a man in armour of the Middle Ages. Superb composition! The details are well emphasized. I appreciate also much the comment.
TFS, cordially,
Jean-Patrick

Another cracker shot Gert. Awesome crisp, clear close detail. Sharpness is spot on. Good lighting and colour. Nice work on this 'over seer'. Thanks

Gert,
I'm glad that you are here. Photographers like you set the bar for the rest of us to get out of the comfort zone and try innovative ways to get into the face of an insect. You sure did that for me. I know that I kicked butt with the FujiS5000, and i enjoyed keeping up with the SLR users in the macro/closeup catagory, now, I'm in high pursuit with the 20D. I'm finding innovative ways to get out of the comfort zone and shoot.

Macro/closeup I really enjoy, however, I have spinal fusion at L5-S1 and find it very difficult to capture creatures down low. After a couple shots, I'm done in and find it very hard to walk. Even to stand up straight. I'm agressive like I was in sports and still go for it, I pay in the end.

Images like this, sharp, crisp, clean, is an example for us to go for it. Excellent work and well done on the composition. Thanks for your kindness and encouragement to me and so many here. I'm very greatfull and consider myself lucky to come across photographers of your calibor. Thanks. :) :)

Thanks To Adam for your kindness in having a site like this for us to share and learn and meet new people from around the world.

Mike

It is a nice close up and unusual POV. I like the details and POV. The DOF is as you said a bit shallow but there where not much more you could do at 1/60s and ISO400. The OOF areas looks very blurred but I like it, it makes the details that is in focus jump out.
