It’s snowing a lot and it is -12C so I stay inside today and digging in my archive and I found this little beauty, I have post some picture of this before but I like it. I hope you like it too.

I’m not 100% sure about the ID but in my new book I have found that it could be a Syrphus ribesii.

From www.wildlifetrusts.org

Hover-fly (Syrphus ribesii)

Razorsharp details, perfect composition and lovely colors make this an excellent photo. Well done and TFS!

Yews thats Gert, that was the way I saw your first photos on the web, You was a very good macro expert that was my opinion, but even you grow up during the days, and you knows that to. You are realy an expert in flying birds too, and thats a compliment. This composition is very good taken, the pof is great, and the colours are super, fantastic job

Gert - same weather in Poland. No chance to take photos. Many thanks for this real yellow and hot picture! It remains me long sunny days full of buzzing insects.

Very nice macro.. Excelent sharpened, good POV and DOF.. ! Nice colors..! It is almost like you can grap the fly...

Very good work on capturing the Hover Fly. The details are awesome. Well done on this composition.
The flower, however, had too much post processing, it doesn't look right. The wing at back is blurred, yet the pedal at back is sharpened, I don't understand why that is so.

Superbe macro, belle profondeur et quelles couleurs!

Very good macro shot with very good details and very good composition, very good use of high aperture to create bigger DOF, I think that you should work a little bit on the levels to correct the colours, the picture seems to be to much yellow.

Caramba!! Que macro é esse!! Parabéns ficou maravilhosa a foto!!

Ainda vou ter uma lente dessas... :(

Mesmerising gert. Absolutely a gem. great work

Great macro, very good POV and colours, getting a bit more space in front could have been better.

Hi Gert, this is a lovely shot. Very nice colours and good composition. I have a very good Hoverfly book and it allows ID from a set of Keys...often this is pretty tough work and doesn't always lead to a single answer. This is a male so the ID is a little tricker (S. ribesii females have the hind femur entirely yellow but different to males). This is either a S. ribesii or S. vitripennis IMHO. Very nice work.

Absolutly stunning. I can't find words to describe its beauty.
This must be pretty close to the perfect hoverfly shot. i wish I had your camera Gert. I'm glad is cold in Sweden, otherwise we would never have seen this wonderful shot.

Great macro, Gert.
Great work: picture and note.
Yesterday I went to Ecomuseum. I am very glad to have found this place. When I am frozen I go inside, take some macros of frogs, then return outdoor until I am frozen again. I made that 5 times yesterday.
Thanks.
