I think this is a Hermaris tityus, Narrow-bordered Bee Hawk-moth but I could be a
Hemaris fuciformis, Broad-bordered Bee Hawk-moth.
I’m not sure but both are common in Sweden except from the north parts.
Even that’s quite large moth it’s difficult to get a decent picture of it. They are very fast and don’t stay long on a flower, mostly they hanging in the air like hummingbird.
And an it’s very quite when it fly, it’s impossible to hear it.
I think it’s a beautiful insect.

You can find info about both species Hermaris tityus., Hemaris fuciformis .

Technique:
Sigma 180 Macro EX HSM
ISO 100, Raw-format -1/3
Convert, Levels, Contrast, Crop, resized to 800 pixels , USM on the B/W channel in lab-colours.
I used Adobe Photoshop CS2 for PP

Well taken, Gert.
Very good composition and colors, great Dof.
The insect is a bit blurred but it's still a great image.

Thank you for sharing, well done!

I've never seen one of these moths, very unusual looking.
Great work,very well done.

Good Morning Gert, I saw something very similar last week but it was gone before I could shutter..Good details and colors here, you probably needed a bit faster than 1/250th for this fast mover IMO. Well done.

Great capture Gert, we got some other kind of the hawk moths, and I know how hard to capture them.
Very good details, colours and composition.
Very well done.

Superb shot!
I know perfectly well how hard these fellows are to capture. Some time ago I tried to take any photo of these, but I don't have nothing good enough. They are really quick and stay on the flower only for seconds or even less.
The photo is very good, details well seen and colours great.
I like it very much.
WELL DONE!

Hi Gert!
Cute, fluffy Sweety ;-)

Bel insecte poilu butinant le pissenlit. Jolies couleurs, bon point de vue et bonne netteté.
Beautiful close-up action shot !!! Dandelions are good place for insects and photographers ;-)

You're right - it's a Hemaris tityus. Really nice shot - thanks for sharing.
