Today’s post is one of my fav’s, Emerald Damselfly female.
I took this early in the morning when the dew still was left.
They almost always sitting down deep in the grass and it are difficult to get a clean shot,
but this one was sitting well and was not shy, maybe it was a bit cold.
It’s a very common here.

The Emerald damselfly Lestes sponsa is a damselfly, 3.5 centimeters long, found in Europe, Asia and North Africa. In peace, its wings are usually half opened. Males have a dark metallic green tone, while females appear rather copper. The Emerald damselfly can survive up to a half hour under water.
Preferential habitats of this species are pools, ponds and moorlands, from central and Northern Europe until north Asia at a value of 1,200 meters. The animals are very widespread. A population can consist of several hundred animals. The Emerald dragonfly is one of the most frequent kinds of dragonflies in Europe, since it can adapt very well to many environmental changes

It's not a DUCK Gert! It is a very well captured Damselfly, and a female too. She looks so good, your photo is excellent; colours details are so sharp. Well done,
Janice

This is a wonderful capture of the emerald damsel fly. I love the clarity of the shot and the outstanding colors. You can count the hairs on her legs.

Hi Gert
Looks like the lady was rather thirsty as she has her face right in the drink. You have captured her well in this typical damselfly pose, with the wings closed and stretched along the body. I like the effects from the low lying morning sun and the rich colours as a result, especially that deep blue sky light.
Your composition is super with the dark green leave on the left framing the shot. The colours are pure and well saturated, the DOF at f/13 are great with splendid details showing, the BG as already mentioned is a wow, and the exposure was spot-on.
Very well done and TFS.
Regards
Loot

hi Gert,

very nice image.
but here you have a mistake, the good ID is Lestes viridis (and it is a male not a female).

i hope this will help you,TFS,
