Today’s post is the first post with my new Sony A100 and it’s taken with a Sigma 400 EX APO Tele Macro, it’s the only lens I have for the moment, more will come soon
The lens has a nice close working distance 1,6, . macro 1:3 and it’s ok for butterflies.
I have used the camera with anti shake on, it works very good.
It’s a Raw-format in 400ISO and the noise is under control.
I have not have time for a longer test; I have had it in my hands only for a few hours.
It’s converted with Sony raw-converter, I’m not familiar with it yet.
The picture is maybe not the best, it’s some OE , in the wings.
But I hope you like it anyway.

Sony A100DSRL, Sigma 400mm APO Tele macro, hand held, no flash.

ISO 400, Raw-format, AV-mode, One-shot focus

Levels, Contrast, Crop, resized to 800 pixels, Smart Sharpen on the B/W channel in lab-colours. I used Adobe Photoshop CS2 for PP.

Hi Gert,

This one is very colourful and I like it. You manged the light very well in this photo. Great work and my compliments!

regards,
Zeno.

Hello Gert,
Good colours and detail. exposure as you say is a bit over on the wings, but as you use the camera more, I'm sure you won't have that problem.
DOF is spot on and the POV is good.
Well composed and good framing.
I'll be interested to see how this camera performs against the Canons and Nikons, once you have spent more time with it and the the software.
Thanks for posting, have a great weekend.

Excellent quality, great colours and very good composition, I think that a little bit noise reduction can make it better.

Wow I've been eyeing this camera for sometime now, so I'd be very interested in how you find using it Gert. Interesting choice for the first lens. Good detail and DOF on this shot. Have fun with your new camera!

Hi Gert,
I look forward to read and see more shots from your new camera. If you like it must be good:-)
I like the sharpness in fg and blurred oof in the bg (that I can 't get with my compact camera:-) Beautiful colors and lovely composition.
Regard, José M.

Hi Gert.
Welcome :) This camera is really wonderful. I haven't learned yet all functions of it. But you managed it very well. I read in a discussion site that sony a100 has noise problem. But I can say that there is no lots of noises.

Regards
Fevzi

CONGRATULATIONS Gert! For a first shot with your new camera you have a good result. You can only get better and you must be excited trying it all out.
Beautiful Echanacea and bumble bee, and I look forward to seeing what else you are going to show us in the days to come.
Thank you my friend,
Janice

Woken up to a grey weekend here, but it's not cold though!! Off out to breakfast with the family in a moment!

Nice shot Gert!
Good luck with the new toy. My wife says "the boys & their toys..the older you get, the more expensive they are". :)
Can you use any of your Canon or sigma lenses and/or flash with it? I haven't checked..
Well done & have a Great Weekend!
PS - I hope you have as much fun with your new toy as I've had with mine. ;-}}

Well done Gert.
No over exposure in the flower part.
Sony seems to be ok;-).

Regards Hilary :o)

Besides the OE that you yourself mentioned, the details are nice and sharp where there is great exposure. I'm real interested in what you bring us with your new camera. :)

Great light, colours and composition. A very good shot, Gert!
Best regards

Hi Gert

Congratulations on your new "toy"! It seems to be working very well! I read nice things about it in various reviews. Just out of curiosity, would you recomend it over an Canon 350D?
Anyway, the picture looks very nice, with excellent sharpness and colors. Taken from a great POV, with good DOF and BG, the shot is nicely framed and composed.
Very well done!

Bravo adn TFS

Una bonita composición para el estreno de tu nueva cámara... aunque aun no entendí por que el cambio.
Bellos colores, y una excelente nitidez, con adecuado DOF.
Feliz estreno viejo amigo.
Ricardo

A pretty composition for the debut of your new camera... although not yet I understood why the change.
Beautiful colors, and excellent clarity, with appropriate DOF.
Happy premiere my old friend.

Hi Gert,

A Minolta man now? A trader, renouncing Canon? Ah, man!!! Congrats on the new toy.

Nicely captured, beautiful colors and composition.

Honesty with utmost respect, your work on the canon and the quality far exceeds this one.

Mike

Amazing result, considering an aperture of 5.6! Every time I try to photograph a bee, they are out of focus!
The sony is the one with image stabilisation built in to the camera, right? I expect they will all be like that one day.
