First I will thank all for the nice comments and words of my last post.

Today’s post is one of of my fav’s, the Bearded Tit.
As I wrote earlier, they use to be here during the winter but in very small numbers, very hard to capture. I had been waiting almost 3 years for the first decent picture.
This winter we have a lots of them, more than 50 birds maybe 100, so now is it not so difficult to catch them. As they are so beautiful I will keep going to try getting more shots.

I took this 2008-11-02 and I will never forget this date, everything works out our way this day.
The birds who use to sit in close reed, almost impossible to reach was very co-operative and came close and in open reed with beautiful light, I think we got more than 200 shot of them that day and most of are pretty decent. I like this one when he sitting in his real habitat;
I have this one on Canvas 30-40cm, it’s like a beautiful painting
I hope you like it.

From Wikipedia.
The Bearded Reedling, Panurus biarmicus, is a peculiar small passerine bird. It is also frequently known as the Bearded Tit due to some similarities to Long-tailed Tits, or Bearded Parrotbill since it was later placed with these after it was removed from the true tits in the family Paridae. But according to more recent research, it is actually a most unique songbird - no other living species seems to be particularly closely related to it. Thus, it seems that the monotypic family Panuridae must again be recognized. The Bearded Reedling is a species of temperate Europe and Asia. It is resident, and most birds do not migrate other than eruptive or cold weather movements. It is vulnerable to hard winters, which may kill many birds. This is a small orange-brown bird with a long tail and an undulating flight. The male has a grey head and black moustaches (not a beard). Flocks often betray their presence in a reedbed by their characteristic "ping" call. This species is a wetland specialist, breeding colonially in large reedbeds by lakes or swamps. It eats reed aphids in summer, and reed seeds in winter, its digestive system actually changing to cope with the very different seasonal diets.

Hello Gert,
this is superb shot of very nice little Bearded Tit. I like it.

TFS. Best regards, Leonid

Great colours, excellant sharpness in the detail of bird and grasses. One bird that is very hard for me to find. Only comment as to whether it would look better in portrait? TFS regards Bill

Hallo Gert
I just like the sunlight you caught on this one. Makes this already beautiful image brighten up to its best. The bright eye is just to die for. This scene very much remind me of the pictures I saw in the childrens bible as a child where the slaves would cool down the king with fans made of grass and or straw. They where always pictured with one of these fans in their hand, just like this bird is holding on to it here. Oops, sorry, I lost it for a bit there thinking back at my tiny tot days. This is a very special image with light captured at the right places, bringing out the detail of all the special features this bird has. Thanks for sharing and let me walk the walk down memory lane with this specific image.
Best regards
Anna

Hello Gert,
The beautiful light on the golden grasses, the rosy breast of the bird, and the sharpness and excellent composition of your photo all combine to make this a very striking image.
I was trying to capture our most beautiful little native bird, the Tomtit, today, but he was too quick for me and kept jumping from branch to branch in a circle around me.
He got vey close, but just didn't stop long enough in one spot to shoot.
This one is great though.
Very nicely done.
Cheers
Steve

Hi Gert!

Your picture is one of the best I have seen for a long time here on TN. The warm colours make it an outstanding one. I also like the composition with the vertical lines of the reeds very much. But the most impressive remains the unity of the pastel colour tones. Moreover, the perspective and depth of view as well as the sharpness and the richness of the details are superb!

Kind regards

Markus

Hi Gert,

Beutifull warm light and colours in Your shot, great POV and focus on the bird. Nice work!

Cheers

A daring Bearded Tit, holding on to two branches, Gert. I like the natural habitat in this picture because it complements the subject.
As usual, your picture is very good. The focus on the head and upper body is precise.
Thanks and regards.

Hi Gert.
Once more I am amazed with your fantastic picture. First it is unbelievable lights and colours palette. Second it is sweet combination of sharpness and blurriness. I love this lens especially in your skill hands. Both pictures scene at whole and pose of the bird are fine. Exposure of the image and level of details are superb too. I like size of the image and composition a lot. My congratulations.
Alexei.
