[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Coltsfoot, Tussilago farfara, Swe hästhovsört or hosthävsört

This is a very early spring flower. Kids just love it and pick a lot for mummy.
This two has very long stems so they must be at least more than a week old. They close the bloom at night and in cold weather and open up when the sun is warming. This two is the first I have found in our park but soon will the ground be yellow. I took this in the morning before the sum was warming up after a cold night.
It’s a real sign of spring. We love it, I hope you like it too

The plant has been used since pre history to relieve coughs and other respiratory problems. It is made into herbal teas (un-opened flowers and leaves) and is found in commercial cough preparations. It is an ingredient in concoctions used to treat diarrhoea. The leaves are sometimes smoked for relief of congestion. The crushed leaves or a leaf decoction is used externally where it may be applied to sores, injuries, rashes and painful joints. The large mucilage content accounts for most of the medical benefit derived from the plant.

Gert, flowers? Hmm, showing your soft side eh?
Excelent capture, and warm. Well done on this composition and details. Do they belong to the Dandelion family?

Mike

This is wonderfull!!
Almost like a art nouveau lamp.
The focus only on the subject is very interesting and the picture would not be as good if the DOF were greater.
Good shot.
Gary

Nice composition and an interesting subject. I wish I knew more of our plantlife to write such interesting notes. Lovely shot Gert and a tribute to spring. We are getting our Autumn rains this week. I suspect our winter will be here witin a week or two. :( So it our chance to look at your colourfull photos.

Sharpness, details, lighting and 3D effect are wonderful!
TFS...:))

Gert, I like the graceful down-turned curves of the stems taking your eye to the burst of bright yellow..An interesting note on their medicinal use. Well done my friend!

Very nice composition, great light, good POV and sharpness.
Well done.
TFS.

When I first saw the thumbnail for this, Gert, the saying: "bowing to Mecca", came to mind, for obvious reasons.
Amazing details, color and lighting.
Another masterpiece, thank you.

Can you explain, please, in your technique you mention that you converted to sRGB, what does that mean and how do you know the need for it? Thanks again.

Beautiful and interesting macro ! I notice that the stem of your Coltsfoot are long & thin, in Alps mountains they are small & strong, perhaps because of snow...
Well Done !
