[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I took this today and I’m not sure what it is. Maybe it is a solitary bee. It was quite small 10-15 mm long.
The DOF is very shallow, normally I use my tripod with a heavy monoball but this is handheld at 1/100.
I need some help for ID. I post a WS with the whole insect.

Technique:
Sigma 180 Macro EX HSM, Kenko 1,4X converter, Handheld
ISO 200, Raw-format, One shot Autofocus, used the tape-trick for Autofocus with the converter.
Converted, Levels/Curves, Contrast, Crop, resized to 800 pixels, save as JPG for the WEB.
I used Adobe Photoshop CS2 for PP.

Very nice macro, Gert.
Good Pov and details. But the quality is a bit low, Imho.
Lovely close-up, thank you for sharing.

Hello Gert :-)
What a fluffy bee :-)
Cute and nice the same as your photo!
Congrats!

Right on, Gert!!!
What a shot and well done on this composition. Amazing details.
Hmm, are we setting a standard? No problem, out comes the next lens, an inverted 50mm that takes me right in there. LOL To be cont.

Mike

Its so close,excellent macro.TFS!

Hi Gert,
Looks more like a hornet (vespa crabro) than a bee, but Paul might know more precisely. Impressive again, Gert. I like these microscope alike shots. You show here what the insect looks for another insect, if they had our eyes. Very well done. No nits.

Super macro! It is a Nomada bee (we have seen several of them on TN in the last weeks). They are brood parasites of other bees, of the genus Andrena.
Good job.

Superb macro shot Gert.perfect sharpness,colors and details.well done.TFS.

Now that is close up Gert.
Could have done with a touch more DoF Imho, but a good shot all the same.

Great close up Gert,
Great details, and good sharpness for handheld at 1/100.
I'd also say a Nomada bee for the ID.
Thanks for posting

Hello Gert, great close up and you've made the limited DOF count where it matters. Lovely details and colour. I agree with Philippe on the ID.

Well done.

This is so close Gert. Without flash and such close F number, details you get are very good. Very nice colours.
Well done.

Hi Gert
I sure am glad they do NOT get this big!!! very nice, but I can't help on the id. Great details my fiend - one day, when I am big, as my one friend says, I will also shoot such macros!
