[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This young bird of Fieldfare was not ready to fly; it was sitting in a tree down by the river.
It was very quite and try to hide when I passed by and the parents did not attacked as they normally does, It’s very ugly, no tail, feathers up in the head and a very dull colour but anyway it’s cute.
It’s strange with the Fieldfares, some of them still build nests, and some lay on eggs and some have young bird.
I hope you like the ugly one.

Fieldfares are easily identified. They are almost as big as a Mistle Thrush but their reddish-brown backs are sandwiched between the striking cold grey colours of the head and rump. In flight the conspicuously white underwing coverts could cause confusion with Mistle Thrush, but if you can't see the grey head and rump, look for a clear contrast between the white lower belly and the black tail.
Breeds in woodland, especially birch, and in parks and gardens. Winters on farmland, entering towns in bad weather.
A rare breeding bird in Scotland, where a few pairs nest annually. A common winter visitor between October-April, mainly to farmland where huge flocks can be seen.
Very common in summer in many parts of Scandinavia, especially in parks and gardens. Also breeds in much of central Europe as far south as parts of Italy and including many areas in eastern France. Occurs widely, often in large numbers, in most of central and southern Europe in winter.
Up to a 25 pairs have been found breeding in Britain in recent years but these are widely scattered localities which are rarely occupied more than once. About a 750 000 birds are thought to winter in Britain and Ireland.

5-7.5 million breeding pairs.

Hi Gert,
Good capture. Very sharpe image and well composed. There is a lot of interest in the composition and the green at the edges contrasts very well with the plain brown bird, although there is plenty of different shades. Well done.
John.

Very nice shot! Excellent sharpness, nice colors and very good composition. Masterly captured. Bravo!
