Guldfluga, Greenbottle, Lucilia caesar.
This metallic fly is a very common fly.
Description: 8-15mm, with a metallic green body and silvery jowls below the hairless red eyes.
Food and Habits: Adults feed on nectar and carrion juices. They fly at all times of the year, including mid-winter, when they can be seen basking on sunny walls. The maggots feed on carrion, including scraps of meat and fish consigned to the dustbin.
Habitat and Range: Found in a wide range of habitats, and common around houses, yet rarely venturing indoors.



Technique:
Sigma 180 Macro EX HSM, Kenko converter 1.4X, Sigma EF 500 DG for fill-in.
ISO 200, JPG- 1/3 ev (The card was almost full, no room for RAW, had to switch to JPG;-(( )
Levels, Contrast, Crop, resized to 800 pixels , USM. I used Adobe Photoshop CS2 for PP

I think this is the best fly shot I've seeb on TN. Its brilliant.
Perfect exposure, POV, DOF and crystal clear sharpness.

Can't make it more detailed than this..not only the fly but the leaf with its small hair.. Amazing shot.
I always wonder how you guys can take close-ups of insects without them fying away..

Wow, unbelievable detail and sharpness. This is a fantastic macro Gert. Looks like f13 is a great choice for macros of insects - gonna give that a shot ;). Did you use a tripod? Is the converter what Canon call an extender and can I use it on my 20D? Um, sorry about all the questions but when I see a shot this good I gotta find out how they did it! TFS :)
