Now I see what you mean with a longer macrolens! WOW, this is close. With the 105mm Macrolens I have just ordered pictures like this won't be possible ... Wonderful stuff. Sharp details and superb colors. Well done & TFS!

I've seen a few close-ups of dragonfly eyes, but this must be amongst the best of them - far beyond what I can accomplish with my +2 macro filter ;-)
I totally agree on the barber issue, do bring him a shaver next time you see him ;-))
As for ID I'm definitely not sure, especially as you don't give any info on the approximate size. However, if it was small (and newly-emerged, judging by the pristine wings shown in the WS), then maybe it could be a black darter male?

Really close or Dragonflies in Sweden are gigantic ;-) Perfect details - I like hexagonal cells in its eyes. One of best real macro shots I ever saw!

3/4 head position add to the 3D effect, sharp focus is on the eyes as recommended in portrait technics, DOF is limited so only subject standout in the picture. You really master portrait technics....
But next time, ask your subject to shave before ;o)
