When I was a child there where hundred of them in the field and lots of people had a caged one.

Lovely capture of this Goldfinch, razor sharp and so colourful! We've had five of them coming to the garden during the blizzard but they are very shy and hard to photograph close by. Well done!

Fine close capture of the Goldfinch showing excellent detail of the head and the breast. I can see the beneficial effect of the use of a tripod here. Nicely composed first class shot!

Delightful shot photo Gert,

Amazing note by the way. I think this is a strong capture that shows good judgement of camera settings. You have thrown that background well out of focus with f6.3 and the entire bird is kept sharp.
really nice pose and composition generally. The reds show up very vividly against the more muted pastel colours and is a nice contrast.

Hi Gert.
It is difficult to believe to own eyes. What a clearness and richness of colours. What a details of the bird plumage, exactness of lines and shapes. Pose of the bird, composition, perfect selected DOF are great too.

I worry for these birds very much. In this year they have remained on wintering and in our region. Today for the first time for all winter the temperature has gone down up to -10. I hope, goldfinches withstand your colds. Then our birds will too.

Hi Gert,
this one is also missing in my garden this year, such a beautiful bird.
I like the way he is showing you his side-face, a nice model ;-)
Today I saw butterflies in a forrest, it was absolutely unbeleavable. Normaly they come in April/May - I hope there will not come any snow again this year, would be horrible for the animals and the nature.

Another amazing shot of this beautiful little bird. You really know how to get the best out of your equipment. This shot reeks of brilliance and presents this bird in all its magnificent natural beauty.

The exposure is what makes on take immediate notice of this lovely shot as it was perfectly controlled and the result is breathtakingly gorgeous. The most delicate contrasts are visible in the plumage. The composition is marvelous in its simplicity, the colours are fantastic, the details are spectacularly sharp, and the BG is well OOF and totally complimentary.

What a beautiful bird, I've never seen one before. Striking colours and quite an unusual combination too. It's a lovely shot, great detail and focus on the eye, nice light in the eye too. Nicely framed and I like the way the bird is positioned, good timing to catch him that way. Nice work!

Hi Gert

The seed pods on my Canton Lace tree are many so in the next few weeks I expect to see Goldfinch return to my garden. I love their cheery chatter as they feed on the seed.

This is indeed a lovely shot with the quality of the image excellent. I like the pose. Looks like this inquisitive fella is stretching to look at something. Very nice work my friend! :-)

Autumn is well under way in New Zealand and Easter weekend has seen beautiful sunny days with warm weather and clear skies. I love Autumn with the cooler weather and the lovely colours as the leaves begin to change.

I hope you don't have too much more cold weather and that Spring will be in full force for you very soon.
