What luck to get a shot like this today (here in the south it is grey, misty and foggy!!!).

Hi Gert,
A beautiful portrait. I don't think you can't find it in Belgium.
The colours are similar to several wood colours; the bird is well veneered:-).
The edges and the catch light of the eye is very visible. Sharp beak as well; besides an overall detail and sharpness.

Hello Gert,
This is a first class capture of a Redpoll, super sharp with pleasing bokeh BG and presented in a an excellent composition. What a difference a bit of sunshine makes!
Here in the south we have had an almost continuous dark cloud cover for nearly three weeks. So it is nice to see a Swedish shot where there is sun!

Det var säkert jätte kul att ta en sväng med grabbarna :) Jag har inte varit ute och fotograferat på länge. Jag väntar på våren i stället. Åker till NY om en månad och just nu tror jag att jag kommer att köpa en 400 f/2,8. Skulle du komma till Sthlm?

Another splendid bird-catch from the master! How lovely.
I simply find myself admiring your post from every angle and being amazed how it is that you sometimes turn the most simple or common animals into fantastic pictures! BRAVO!
The details, colors and lighting in this picture are terrific in every aspect!
Also, the diagonal composition is just impeccable, the pOV is excellent and the DOF is perfect - keeping all the details and edges of the bird in full focus and the BG lovely blurred.
What more to say...my hat's off to you!

Hello Gert,

What a wonderful close-up of this beautiful Redpoll! The well composed image is complimented by this soft background. A clearly visible silhouette is a key ingredient towards an easily readable and pleasant picture. The eye contact is excellent and makes this picture more engaging. Although you used a pretty small aperture, the DOF is very effective and isolates the bird very nicely from the background. It seems this guy was posing for you as all of you managed to get such beautiful photos. You were very lucky the shooting area was free of distracting twigs as the result is an image suitable for both artistic and educational purposes. Very well done!
The color tone range is very beautiful and the colors in the background match the ones in the foreground creating a consistent atmosphere throughout the picture. Contrast was kept low in all areas except for the subject thus drawing the attention exactly where you wanted to. This is a very subtle way to emphasize the subject in a composition where the color range is kept low.
A perfect focus and exposure takes care that every detail is rendered sharply creating an excellent contrast with the softness in the background. The outstanding light management assures a well lit subject with great catchlights in the eye! Excellent camera work!
Overall an outstanding capture with a useful note! Thank you!
