Today’s post is an UFO ;-) Ok, I know it’s an Eristalis Male of any kind. I have tried to get the right id without any success not easy the hoverflies. If anyone has the right ID, I will be glad. It could be Eristalis Tenax.
I took this out on a field with brown grass so I got a very nice BG together with the shallow DOF (F5.6). This one was hovering over a flower with a sitting female so the shoot was quite easy. I tried to freeze the wings but that’s impossible without a flash. I have cropped a bit tight on purpose, I like it that way.
I hope you like him too.

Sigma 180 macro EX HSM, tripod. No Flash. Focus-control moved back to the thumb button, then I have a choice, use the thumb-button for auto focus or use the ring for manual focus
ISO 400 Raw-format, av-mode, Ai-servo focus.

Smart Sharpen on the B/W channel in lab-colours.

Have a great weekend.

Masterpiece of a macro, Gert.
Though wings are sort of invisible, the details on the body are sharp and crystal clear.
Thanks for sharing this great image.

Espero algún día tener la oportunidad de captar una mosca de las flores de esta manera.
Gran super macro con excelentes detalles y nitidez, basados en un acertado 1/800 de velocidad.
Felicitaciones por una nueva belleza.

I desire someday having the opportunity to capture a hoverfly this way.
Great super macro with excellent details and clarity, based in a correct 1/800 of velocity.
Congratulations for a new beauty.

very impressive one, looks like a biology book picture. Perfect! I'm surprise though, that you didn't use a flash. Reflections on the body looks like it. Congratulations!

Excellent in-flight still shot, Gert!
The details of this capture are simply amazing, considering the speed of these little fellows. Great colors and POV, too. I also like the tight crop...focuses all the attention on the fly.
Bravo and TFS

This is IMPRESSIVE shooting. Exceptional capture of this in-flight hoverlfy. Very well done. Such warm colors for us here in the snow... :) I waited long enough to say that. lol!

Nice capture of this tiny insect, its amazing they hold still long enough without buzzing away. :)

'Smart Sharpen on the B/W channel in lab-colours.' Can you do this in PSE4?

About this pic...special..probably need 'some' preparation.

To be frankly don't understand the moving back to the thumb button statement either?
I have a button to change at my lens?

Greetings
Annick
