This is a small and dark fritillary, a Heath Fritillary, Skogsnätfjäril, Melitaea athalia.
This is a quite small with a wing span 32-42 mm, are on wings from June to end of August and it’s very common up here.
It was raining a lot when I was out today and I took this between the showers.

From Wikipedia.
The Heath Fritillary ranges throughout the Palaearctic region from Western Europe to Japan (Warren and Emmet, 1990).
Its UK distribution is restricted to Cornwall and Devon grasslands (abandoned hay-meadows); Exmoor (heathland); and Kent and Essex (coppiced woodland on acid soils) (Tomlinson and Still, 2002). The populations in Essex are the result of reintroductions (Warren and Emmet, 1990), and further reintroductions are ongoing in various other parts of the UK

Hello Gert,
A magnificent shot, I love the butterfly design and wing patterns. I've surprised by the very good focal depth, all has excellent dfocus. Colours, illumination, composition, all well. You're lucky to take this one between showers, the sun gift a nice light.
Cheers
Hernán

Hej Gert,
Fine capture of a male Heath Fritillary taken from a great POV showing how the wings can curve down when open. Excellent sharpness, DOF and BG in this pleasing composition on a red clover flower.
TFS.
Hälsningar,
Ivan

Regnet had både spolat bort de gamla och fått fram fräscha fjärilar. När solen kom fram var det 28 grader och det vimlade av främst guldvingar idag.

Imaculate specimen for a imaculate photography.
A joy to look at, really.
Congratulations MF, always a pleasure to look at your work.
Best regards, Felipe.
PD: The distance to the subjetc made it this time, really perfect.

Very nicely captured on the clover in nice light. I like the POV and the quality is excellent as usual.

Hello Gert,
A wonderful composition with precise focus and excellent exposure. The colors are so rich and natural and the excellent DOF gives a commendable 3-D effect. Very pleasing background.
Best Wishes,
Ken

Helo Gert !
Six month ago I didn't know these butterflies were living in my region, but then one day I discovered them and since this day they belong to my favourite species - I love their color and they are always cooperative models. The details on this picture are excellent, as well as the composition, the natural colors and the blurred BG, which makes your buterfly stand out very nicely. Well done !
Valerie.
