First I will thank all for the nice comments and words of my last post.

This bird is our smallest bird in Sweden and even in Europe, the Goldcrest.
This Goldcrest was very curious and played peek-a-boo with us, he was sitting in a fir just outside the hide for a quite long time and he was to close for my 400mm long lens but he was very co-operative and wait so could change to my 70-200 is lens. I think he is cute when he is looking through the firneedles.

The Goldcrest Regulus regulus is a very small passerine bird in the kinglet family, resembling the Firecrest but with a plainer face. It breeds in most of temperate Europe and Asia but is partly migratory and northern birds winter south of the breeding range. It prefers coniferous woodlands, although it has a wider range in winter, when it is often found with tit flocks. It builds an open nest and lays 4-12 eggs.

The Goldcrest is the smallest European bird, measuring from 8.5 to 9.5cm. It is dull greenish above, with buffy white underparts, two white wingbars, a plain face with a conspicuous black eye. The crown has black sides and a narrow black front, and a bright central crest, orange in the male and yellow in the female, which is displayed during breeding. It is a restless species, constantly on the move as it searches for insects.

Goldcrests on the Canary Islands have a broader black band across the forehead, and yellower wingbars and belong to separate subspecies. They are sometimes considered a separate species, but usually are included in the goldcrest. Recently, it has been established that there are in fact two distant Canary Islands populations: the Tenerife Goldcrest (R. (r.) teneriffae) and the Western Canary Islands Goldcrest (R. (r.) ellenthalerae) (Päckert et al., 2006).

The Goldcrest is the national bird of Luxembourg. In Britain, Goldcrests were previously called Gold-crested Wrens, and are celebrated in a poem by Charles Tennyson Turner with that title.

This one looks really funny pulling a face at you!! I like those long legs too! This shot really shows it the way you see them - half-hidden among the pine needles! Great shot, I love it!

Hej Gert,
Great eye contact in this frontal shot of a Goldcrest, which makes the title appropriate.
Caught at a fine moment, he looks like he is stretching his legs to take a look at you in your hide.
This is how we usually see them: among the needles of pines or spruces and you have caught this little one sharply in a nice setting.

Hi Gert.
What a cute picture. I am amazed with it so much. Fur-tree branch creates the fine foundation of the picture. Pose and glance of the charming bird are terrific. Great exposure and colours, excellent DOF, details of the branch and birdy. Blurriness of the BG is so attractive too. My compliments for this charming picture.

Hi Gert, I really love this fine composition. The little Goldcrest just peeking through the branches. Both the tree and the bird a well focused and nice and sharp. You have a perfect dof for a difficult shot. Great pov head on with good catch light on the eyes. Wonderful work.

You have a wonderful, wonderful portfolio filled with breathtaking photos and I really had to pick and choose to decide which one I would like to give my smiley to today. This " Very curious Goldcrest" photo of yours is just too cute for words and really a smasher. I just love the match-stick legs and the yellow patch on its head. From the front it looks as if he has a flat face, and I just adore the big eyes. The greenery rounds this photo of well. Thanks for sharing.
