Today’s post is picture a couple of Long-tailed Tit’s. I have post some of them before
But I think this is quite funny. The long-tail tit is a very social bird and they are in family groups in different numbers. We have a couple of flocks from 2 to 20 specimens. They are not afraid of people, once they one of them let me touch the tail while I was hanging up tallow-balls.
These looks funny, one putting the long tail in the others eye.
I hope you like the flying “snow balls” as we use to call them.

PLS
No points for this, I have given them up like some others. I have turn of the points, so save your green ones.

I forget to mention. I will take a break from TN.
Early in Sunday morning we are going to Tenerife
for two weeks. Shall hunt the Blue Chaffinch ;-).

/
The Long-tailed Tit, Aegithalos caudatus, is a very small passerine bird. It breeds in most of Europe and Asia. It is a non-migratory species.
It is closely related to the true tits, and in winter it is often found with tit flocks.
This is a very small bird at only 13–15 cm in length including its very long tail, which itself makes up 7–9 cm of the total. The Long-tailed Tit is black and brown above and whitish below, with reddish flanks. It has a white crown. North European birds (A. c. caudatus) have completely white heads and flanks.
This is a restless species, constantly on the move as it searches for insects and other small food items. It is usually found in small flocks, and has been described as an avian sheep.
Long-tailed Tits are birds of deciduous woodlands with undergrowth. They nest in a tree or shrub. Six to twelve eggs are laid in a woven closed nest. The nest is held together with spider webs, and camouflaged with lichen. Adult birds will find a relative's nest and help feeding their "nephews and nieces", if their own nest is predated.
The call is loud trisyllabic srih-srih-srih.

Hi Gert.
Funny title and funny scene. The birds are simply amazing. Every of them is reproduced brilliantly and pair at whole create a very nice composition. I am impressed with level of details. We can see every tiny feather on them. Exposure is ultimate. Flash work is fantastic at using 400 mm lens. BG is great too. Bravo and many thanks.
Alexei.

Super shot Gert, showing the birds in action.

Hi Gert, very nice presentation of the these flying snow balls. The tail in the eye makes it a "unique" presentation. I've never been real comfortable with fill-in flash, and haven't tried a blind, both things I need to learn. With clear sharp shots like this the requirement stands out loud and clear. Very nicely presented, with great and clean PP.

Thanks, John

Hello Gert,
Beautiful and funny photo of these Long-tailed Tits. The diagonal composition is superb. Strengthened by the tail of the left bird. Great contrasting colours, also with the BG. Very sharp details. Good POV.

Peter

Ha ha! Very funny shot Gert!
I always wonder how birds control their long tails... from this photo they obviously can't :-D
Great sharpness and detail with superb clarity.
Nice colours and perfect lighting.
Great composition.
Well done!

Hej Gert!
Great capture of these two beauties against the dark background. I'm surprised they let you come so near - I've only seen them up in trees. It's fun to watch bird behaviour.
Have a lovely time on Tenerife and I hope you come back with lots of goodies for us!
TFS and all the best wishes, Ulla

Heh...that is a very cute title..and of course you already know about the image..I just couldn't help stopping to tell you what a great sense of humour you seem to have...Cheers!

Hello Gert, I am nuts about those birds, they are so lovely and this picture is so nice and cute. The light is superb, it is so detailed and well composed. I like the two birds, one on the other side of the other and the perfect background contrasts nicely with both of them. Thank you!

Hello Gert,

This is stunning act and very well timed shot. Thanks for sharing with us.

The light is very well managed exposing brilliance in plumage and vividness in colors and clarity. To get the act like that is just amazing. Well done and please aloow me to add this to my personal theme.

Hi Gert,

Well, you greatly capture a pair of Long-tailed Tit. Their colors splendid, sharp focus, great composition and POV. Dark BG also very nice. Thanks for sharing.

This is a splendid shot of this cute pair!
Their pose here is simply amazing and i really like it!
The also contrast well with the BG and are shown with loads of sharp details and beautiful colors...so another magnificent post - a "Gert-post" ;)

Hi Gert

Seems like it was not just the one on the left who got its tail feathers in the other ones eye, but if you look clearly it actually looks like the one one the right did the same thing. Maybe it's a kind of Long-tailed Tit game called "Tit-for-tat".

As usualy there is nothing to crit here. Excellent work with all technical aspects being spot-on.

Very well done and TFS.
Loot

PS. Enjoy the break MF and hopefully we will see the Blue Chaffinch on the rebound.

Una original imagen con muy buenos detalles y excelentes contrastes.
Espero puedas pasar un buen tiempo en Tenerife.
Saludos, JL.
