Today’s post is from yesterday when I was visit the hide for the first time on 3 weeks.
The light is on the return and now I shot without any flash, that’s great but the tripod is still my best friend ;-)

The Robin was here in the late autumn but disappeared when the winter came but now he is around the hide again, must be the warm winter we have right now.
It could be the warmest February for 250 year. ;-(
They normally escape the winter and flying south. The Robin up here is quite shy and keep the distance.
The white in the BG is small spot’s of snow but it will melt soon.
I hope you like him.

PLS
No points for this, I have given them up like some others. I have turn of the points, so save your green ones

The European Robin (Erithacus rubecula) or, in Anglophone Europe, simply Robin is a small insectivorous passerine bird that was formerly classed as a member of the thrush family, but is now considered to belong to the Old World flycatchers (Muscicapidae). The male and female are similar in colouration, with a orange breast and face lined with grey, brown upperparts and a whitish belly.
The European Robin was one of the many species originally described by Linnaeus in his 18th century work, Systema Naturae, under the name of Motacilla rubecula. Its specific epithet rubecula is a diminutive derived from the Latin ruber 'red'.
The distinctive red patch on the chest of both sexes led to the European Robin's original name of redbreast. In the fifteenth century, when it became popular to give human names to familiar species, the bird came to be known as Robin redbreast,
which was eventually shortened to robin. The word is related to the Frisian robyntsje or robynderke, and a Dutch dialect word robijntjie 'Linnet. Its common name in Dutch is Roodborstje, and French is Rougegorge, both translating as redbreast.
The Robin belongs to a group of mainly insectivorous birds that have been assigned to the thrushes or "flycatchers", dependent on how these groups were perceived taxonomically through the years. Eventually, the flycatcher-thrush assemblage was separated and the genus Erithacus assigned to a group of thrush-like true flycatchers that also includes the nightingale and the Old World chats.
Two Eastern Palearctic species are usually placed in the genus Erithacus, the Japanese Robin, E. akahige, and the Ryūkyū Robin, E. komadori, the latter being a restricted-range island species. Biogeography and mtDNA cytochrome b sequence data indicate that these might better be classified with some Far Eastern "nightingales", leaving only the European species in Erithacus.

Excellent Gert!!! I traveled in Europe when young, but did not notice this robin. The sharpness of your photo truly brings out the softness of the robin's tufts. He looks like he might have taken his bath right before your shot.

Hello Gert,

This is one super delivery to TN. Thanks for sharing this beauty.

Excellent sharpness with very well exposed plumage even without the flash. The sharpness is very commendable due to your sturdy tripod. I like the dead wood which provides the perch making this bird in good perspective. Brilliant against that clear and yet contrasting background.

Regards,
Jusni

Hi, Gert.
Outstanding composition of the picture, amazing subject (two pieces of old wood, charming bird and so wonderful BG). The reproduction of all details of the robin (legs, every feather, eye and beak as well as the colour palette) is the best too. Colourfulness and smoothness of the BG are extremely wonderful. Bravo.
Alexei.

Hi Gert

Weather had gone crazy here, too, and that is allarming. Last week we had very cold days, with temperatures of about -5 > -7 and soon (this weekend and the beginning of next week) we'll have some of about +17 > +19...it's just not normal... :(

But, regardless of temperature, i'm happy that the sun is shining again and the huge and endless clouds are not above us anymore :)
This also has brought happiness for you and it seems you could work very nicely here with the natural light.
Your photo of this cute robin is lovely and presents him with impeccable details and is very beautiful colors.
I also like you composition here - with plenty of room in the direction that the bird is looking at.
Great job!

Bravo and TFS
