[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a Crested Tit taken when Micke and I was out for the Siberian Jay.
We also had a lot of tits, like coal tit, marsh tit, willow tit and long-tailed tit all very close, this is taken from around 4 meters Even woodpeckers were quite close. We had a great winter day out in the middle of the forest sitting in the open on my “walkstool”
This tit posed very nicely so I couldn’t resist taking a picture of him, I hope you like him too.

The Crested Tit, Lophophanes cristatus (formerly Parus cristatus), is a passerine bird in the tit family Paridae. It is a widespread and common resident breeder in coniferous forests throughout central and northern Europe and in deciduous woodland in France and the Iberian peninsula. In Great Britain, it is restricted to the ancient pinewoods of the Spey Valley in Scotland, an area some 30 miles in length and two or three miles wide, and seldom strays far from its haunts. A few vagrant Crested Tits have been seen in England. It is resident, and most birds do not migrate.
It is an easy tit to recognise, for besides its erectile crest, the tip of which is often recurved, its gorget and collar are distinctive. It is, like other tits, talkative, and birds keep up a constant zee, zee, zee Birdsong (help•info), similar to that of the Coal Tit .
It makes a nest in a hole in rotting stumps. This bird often feeds low down in trees, but although not shy, it is not always easily approached. It will join winter tit flocks with other species.
Like other tits, it feeds on insects, including caterpillars, and seeds.

A great capture of this tit. A very good close approach, showing clear and sharp details on the plumage and eye. A truly sensational and beautiful bird. A wonderful picture kind of posting. Great in sharpness, lighting, depth of field and focus. Everything is just stunning, as always. A superb shot with a precious and soft on the eye composition. The dark background brings out the detail of the bird to a great extent. Thanks for sharing.

This is a fantastic photo of this incredible bird. We have them in the garden all the time inte winters but they move around so quickly that it is very hard to get a decent photo of them That makes this photo even more impressive!

Superb colours and sharpness and a very careful treatment makes this really stand out!

Very nice portait of our friend the Tofsmes. The crest shows very well here.
I like the pose and POV and the composition on the dead twig against a dark neutral BG is great and of course the technical qualities of the image are of very high standard.

Hi Gert,

very nice shot. I like the dark blue of the background and the POV very much. Sharpness on the body is very good, one can see many details.
Some points of criticism:
- I'd prefer the image without the snow on the ground (it's overexposed and I think the picture is more harmomic without it)
- the beak seems to be out of focus.
