First I will thank all for the nice comments and words of my previous posts.

This is a small and beautiful Slavonian Grebe male(Svarthakedopping), especially the red eye is lovely.
I took this is in a very small lake called Rudsjön just outside my town Gävle.
The light was not the best, I have to use a quite long shutter speed 1/85sec but the bird was co-operative so I got a decent shot with my long lens+ converter and a tripod of course.
It’s a migratory bird and it can be finding almost in the whole country but it’s not so common bird.
I think it’s a beautiful bird, I hope you like it too.

The Slavonian Grebe, Podiceps auritus †, is a member of the grebe family of water birds. It is known in North America as the Horned Grebe.
It is a small grebe at 31–38 cm (12–15 in) long with a 46–55 cm wingspan. Unmistakable in summer, the male's plumage includes a black head with brown puffy earlike tufts along the sides of its face. It shows a deep red neck, scarlet eyes, and a small, straight black bill tipped with white. It rides high in the water.
Slavonian Grebe breeds in vegetated areas of freshwater lakes across Europe and Asia. It also breeds in remote inland parts of the United States and much of Canada. Most birds migrate in winter to the coast. During this time, this small grebe is mainly white with a sharply defined black cap. Like all grebes, it nests on the water's edge, since its legs are set very far back and it cannot walk well. Usually two eggs are laid, and the striped young are sometimes carried on the adult's back. Slavonian Grebe is an excellent swimmer and diver, and pursues its fish prey underwater. During breeding, the male's call is heard as an odd, striking series of loud croaks and chattering notes followed by prolonged shrieks.
Folk names of this bird include Devil-diver, hell-diver, pink-eyed diver, and water witch.
The Slavonian Grebe is one of the species to which the Agreement on the Conservation of African-Eurasian Migratory Waterbirds (AEWA) applies

What a MAGIC shot. This is really a posh looking grebe. I must agree with you 100% about the eye. It is stunning, but the rest of the image is outstanding. A fine-looking photograph with lots of detail to appreciate. This is a real handsome fellow and has such lovely and colourful plumage to be a real show-off. If I would have been a bird and I had such beautiful feathers and would have been proud of myself. I like the way you have captured the bird with the water droplets on its plumage, the details thereof is clearly visible and really adds a special something to this image. Thanks for sharing this charming guy. It was a pleasure and a big WOW to look at and appreciate.

Hi gert,
An excellent, beautiful image, details and sharpness are superb, as well close-up. I like much how you are framed the image with only water as Bg; reflection is great as well.
A species very similar to one of here, podiceps rolland, but your grebe is more rufous in several parts, specially in eyes zone.

Hi Gert, sometimes the worst light brings the nices picture. This is so lovely, with the nice subtle colours and tones, the beautiful bird. I have never seen such a bird and it is superb. You really captured its beauty with details and stuning colours. Thank you!

I'm sure this is the first time I have seen this Grebe. Everything about him is beautiful - the face, the amazing eye, and the plummage. Colors are gorgeous - details are razor sharp. Nice reflection and lovely swirls in the water.

Great capture of svarthakedoppingen. You are lucky to have them so near you. I like the POV and the colour management is just right as the eye often tends to be too red in pictures of this species.

I agree old friend, it's a most beautiful bird, and the red eye is fantastic. The waters look, along with its reflection, make it a work of art. Outstanding colors, and great technique @ 1/80th Gert.

This is indeed a remarkable shot, my friend!
I don't care if you have image stabilisation or tripod or anything; such a superbly sharp shot at such a big focal length at 1/80 is truly impressive!!!
The subject is also wonderful - this charming male Slavonian Grebe sure looks great in your shot. The colors are gorgeous and the ripples on the water plus the nice reflection complete the composition very well.
Overall: a pro's job!
