First I will thank you all for the fine comments on my previous post.

This is for my good friend Loot.
We all know him, his great pictures and his very fine and decent comments, always written with a twinkle in the eye and with a lot of humor.
I haven’t seen you for a while, I hope you are doing well and be back soon after your surgery.
I really missing you, my friend.

This is the second time I’m posting this small beauty; they are really hard to get a decent picture from. It’s very mobile, always on the run, often in close bushes, never in an open place.
It was posing nicely on a twig with nice clean BG and as you can see with some snow.
But the snow is gone now it only last for a day, but it will more soon.
The snow always helps to bright up in the dull light in the wood this time of year.
The Wren is a very small bird, the second smallest of our birds, with a weight of max 14g, length 104-116 mm and wing span 13-17 cm. And in opposite to other birds it’s singing in the winter too. It’s quite common bbut most people never seen it in the wild.

As usual I’m not interested of point,
I have given them up like some others. I have turn of the points, so don’t waste your green ones.

Info from Wikipedia

The Winter Wren (Troglodytes troglodytes) is a very small bird, a member of the mainly New World wren family Troglodytidae. It is the only wren which occurs in the Old World; in Great Britain it is commonly known simply as "the" Wren.
The scientific name, meaning "cave-dweller", refers to its habit of disappearing into cavities or crevices whilst hunting arthropods or to roost. Sometimes, it is placed in a monotypic genus Nannus to reflect its distinctness from the American Troglodytes[citation needed]. It might actually be closely related to Cistothorus (Martínez Gómez et al. 2005), but the available data could not resolve this isusue to satisfaction.
It is common in Europe, a belt of Asia from northern Iran and Afghanistan across to Japan, and North America. It is only migratory in the northern parts of its range.
The 9–10.5 cm long Wren is rufous brown above, greyer beneath, barred with darker brown and grey, even on wings and tail. The bill is dark brown, the legs pale brown. Young birds are less distinctly barred.
The plumage is subject to considerable variation, and where populations have been isolated, the variation has become fixed in one minor form or another. There are around 27 Eurasian subspecies of this taxonomically complex bird, with around 12 more in North America. The disputed subspecies orii, the Daito Winter Wren, became extinct around 1940 – if it is indeed a valid taxon and not merely based on an anomaly.
Thus in the British Isles, in addition to the typical bird, T. t. indigenus, there are two distinct insular forms; one, T. t. hirtensis, is confined to the island of St Kilda, and another, T. t. zetlandicus to Shetland. The St. Kilda Wren is greyer above, whiter beneath, and with more abundant bars on the back; the Shetland Wren is darker.
Recent DNA and vocalisation studies[citation needed] suggest that the subspecies in Alaska and the Aleutian Islands, which has a harsher, more complex song, may well be a different species from the eastern North American and European forms. The latter two populations are also genetically distinct, but possibly not sufficiently to be split as separate species. This research did not include the distinctive Scottish forms

Hi Gert,
I also like Wrens and I agree, they are difficult to photograph them in the open.
Your picture has everything: perfect light and exposure, nice position of the bird on that branch, contrasting blurred background and colors, a bit of snow for atmosphere. A perfect picture with a style that one can recognize as yours.
Regards, Mario

Hello Gert,

You have made an excelent photo with this tiny bird. The image is very sharp so that plumage's pattern acn be well seen. The nice and warm light you have chosen allowed you rendering very nice and natural looking colors. The sharp shown bird stays very nice against the blurry background.

Thank you for sharing,
Cristian

Hi, Gert.
Once more thanks for kind words addressed to our great TN-friend and photographer as well as for next wonderful shot from you. Magnification and POV are fine. You managed to reflect the space of the scene and produce impressive 3D-effect. Exposure considering the presence of the snow is spot on and colour rendition is terrific. I also am impressed with blameless and fine composition of the picture. My best wishes and kind regards.
Alexei.

Hello Gert,
A lovely shot of this Wren.
I often wonder whether birds feel the cold through their feet when they're in the snow .... that goes afor all animals really.
I know I sure do. I guess they must have a less highly developed nervous system than us.
Anyway, excellent composition and details & a nice dedication to Loot.

Hi Gert,

It is nice that you have dedicated this beautiful razorsharp photo to LOOT. He deserves a well-deserved feather. He writes always very fine and decent comments. And exactly what you quotes: "always written with a twinkle in the eye and with a lot of humor".
I like the wonderful POV. This little bird on the fresh falling snow. DOF and BG are oké.

Nice photo. Greetings and TFS BOB

Hi Gert,

I love these little Wrens - a species we do not have here. As always, this shot is picture perfect. Typical wren pose with the tail up and a wonderful wren expression. This bird looks so natural I expect him to fly off the screen. Beautiful colors, superfine details, marvelous background and super composition.

Hi Gert

A brilliant shot as usual, the snow on the twig is a great effect. Nothing to critique really, an excellent post.

Hi Gert,
it's a beautiful shot, so sharp and clear.
I never saw this guy so close and I never had the chance to make a shot of it.
In Germany we call it Zaunkönig - can be translated in King of the fence.

Hej Gert
Ralf

Hello Gert
He is a pretty little fellow - the wren I mean - NOT Loot!!
What attractive colourings and patterns he has Gert. The focus is excellent you managed really well for such a fast mover as this bird is.
Oh - look at the snow!!
Loot should love this dedication - yes, I wish him a speedy recovery too.

Hello Gert
Thanks for sharing this little beauty in the form of a dedication to Loot. Like always this one as all your other images are a pleasure to look at. Details are sharp, presentation precise, focus spot on and composition just right, and of course you had the perfect model, and add to that a well detailed note. What else can one ask? Loot is doing fine after the operation and I thank you in advance for this fine dedication. And no I did not let him sleep in the dog box in this time that he has been full of staples and stitches and plasters and eina’s. Thanks for sharing and have a lovely day.
Best regards
Anna

Hi Gert

This is such a cute little bird and an incredible shot. The perfect details of the wren show every bit of its fine design. It struck a superb pose for this capture and you being a great photographer knew exactly how to utilise the moment and achieve a wonderful POV, spot-on DOF and a magnificent composition. I sincerely appreciate the dedication from the bottom of my heart.

First I need to apologise for taking so long to respond to this delightful gesture. After my operation, things were going so well, but then I had the unfortunate backlash when my wound opened up after the stitches were removed. From then on I deliberately stayed clear of my PC and of course TrekNature. That Friday evening (after the stitches were removed earlier the day) I was working on my Kruger photos when the wound suddenly and progressively started to part and I realised it was because of the upright sitting in front of the PC. That gave me a bit of a "scare" and I remained awake all night long, being worried and unwilling to go and lie down to sleep, just in case the wound opened up some more (which it did in any case). The following morning I went to the emergency out patients where the specialist performed the necessary treatment to remedy the situation. At this stage the wound is healing nicely and I feel it is time to start doing what I pleasure most, spending some time on our treasured TrekNature.
I am returning to work today and hopefully during the next week I will be able to do some much needed catch-up on the site.

That brings me back to this delightful posting and your appreciative gesture. I've never made any attempts to try and hide the fact that I am of the opinion that you are one of the foremost masters on this site. Happily you have also become a sincere and respected acquaintance, but that does not distract from the immense pleasure (and pride) in receiving this dedication from you. Thank you so much my friend. I am truly honoured.

Warmest regards
Loot

PS. I have lots of "unused smileys" and this one I award with contempt of your request to refrain from "wasting" smileys on your postings (chuckle).
