First I will thank you all for the fine comments on my previous post.

I really don’t know what to post, it doesn’t matter what I posting, I have already posted it once, twice or more.
Maybe a flying duck, since it was a long time I posted one and I also have to keep up the nick-name. ;-)
This picture was taking last year just before the midwinter day so the light is not the best, not even at daytime. The sun is very low as you can see, the shadow of the nech is from here own wing, but the side will in nice and warm light.
This is taken with my old Canon 1D MII, a perfect wapon for inflights.
I hope you like the male mallard.

PLS
No points for this, I have given them up like some others. I have turn of the points, so don’t waste your green ones

Some info about the Mallards.
The Mallard (Anas platyrhynchos), also known in North America as the Wild Duck, is a common and widespread dabbling duck which breeds throughout the temperate and sub-tropical areas of North America, Europe and Asia. It also frequents Central America and the Caribbean. It is probably the best-known of all ducks.

This dabbling duck is 56-65 cm length, with a 81–98 cm wingspan, and weighs 750–1000 g. It is strongly migratory in the northern parts of its breeding range, and winters farther south. It is highly gregarious outside of the breeding season and will form large flocks. They are exceptionally fast flyers for their size, reaching speeds of 40mph. Due to their streamlining however, it hardly ruffles a feather.

Hi Gert,
When I think of my old TN friend, flyin' ducks are the second thing that comes to mind..
The first is remembering how much he influenced me at the beginning, and my debt of gratitude to him.
Very nice work, I think the lights angle was tough, but you managed it like an expert - With excellent results.
Very well done!
Howard

With patience..patience and same, good things come to all who wait...which many do not...but those who do are rewarded with some great captures, this being one...Very nice Gert....An achievement I have yet to accomplish!

Hej Gert,
A nice one from your archives!
A fine well panned shot of a female Mallard in flight. The technical qualities are superb and the well used mid-winter lighting is a real plus.
Tack för denna skönhet!
Hälsningar,
Ivan

Det skånska midvinterljuset är redan här, dock dämpat av ett tjockt molntäcke :((

Hi Gert,

It's always a delight when I see a new post of yours. The female Mallard in flight is just wonderful with magnificent lighting. You have frozen her in space perfectly to show off her face, wing, and plummage. Colors are lovely - details are razor sharp from head to tail. She stands out beautifully from the excellent background. Now I have to go and see more in your portfolio.

Hello Gert,
Superb sharp-detailed photo of this duck in flight. You said the light is not good, but the warm colours are very beautiful. The contrast against the OOF BG is great. The composition, POV and DOF are excellent.
High quality!

Peter

Hi Gert

Nice to see another classic from you!
I hope you are well and i strongly hope you are not discouraged by the fact that you don't have any new subjects in your gallery now...they will come and until then we are more than happy to see something like this from you :)
A great in-flight, especially considering the conditions.
Yes, that big Canon body is indeed extraordinary and fast and helped you get a good shot here, but it was also the technique that made it possible.
Very nice saturation in the colors thanks to the great exposure and the low light. Very good composition and superb DOF, too.

Bravo and TFS
Horia

Awesome capture Gert.
You've frozen the action and got perfect sharpness and colour here.

Very well done.

Steve

Hello Gert,

What a clarity and sharpness. And when I read your notes I must say this is in my eyes a perfect Duck shot (-: And if you want one point of critiques from me, then you have to reduce the black spots under the duck to what lighter color. But Gert this is peanuts my friend (-:.

Thanks for sharing and TFS BOB

This is why you're such a respected photographer, Gert!
You can go out and come back with exceptional photos time and time again! :-)
The DOF here is spot-on.
Razor-sharp.
Excellent lighting.

Incredibly well done!
Joe

Hi Gert,
A stunning photo. The light here is really beautiful. it gave such a nice warm tone to her. The moment of her ellegantly gliding trhough the air for her approach is perfectly captured. I like the little catch light in her eyes and the wonderful OOF BG. Especially the BG is pleasing to me since I am about to purchase the 70-200 F4 lens. But I am not going for the IS version since I will use it mostly for landscape photography and other more static types of photography.
TFS,
Niek

Hello Gert
Thanks for the opportunity to leave my thoughts on this beautiful action shot. This is splendid with a capital S, let me repeat Splendid. It might be a common sight for you and you are used to these scenes, but for me this is a very special scene and indeed a lovely image. Like Asbed said in his dedication to you, you are the master to photograph mallards in flight, and I agree 100% with him. Sharpness, focus and composition are just great. Thanks for sharing.
Anna
Since you mention that you do not know what to post, I recommend you start organising the airplane tickets for a trip to the Kruger Park with Loot. I am sure he would love to be your tour guide. And tell your wife she does not have to worry about snakes in the Kruger as you are not allowed to get out of the car. I'll even let Loot out of the dog box for that time.

Hello Gert,
WOW!! really a fantastic in flight capture, superb
sharpness and depth of field, beautiful vivid colors,
lovely details and very nice oof background, nice
composition and lovely catchlight.
Angela
