First I will thank all for the nice comments and words of my last post.

After the last days of chaos and a lot of old friends left TN I had plans to follow them.
But I decided to stay and see if it will be any better. I wish we could go back the spirit we had the early days when we started TN.

This is taken this morning at my feeding station outside my town,
It was a beautiful day with sun and blue sky and not so cold -5C.
The light have return and it's nice to shot in the natural daylight without fill-in flash.
The Long-tailed Tit is quite common in my area and I have posted some pictures of them earlier. They are very social birds and live in family groups up 20 members.
And they are not shy; I have even touched them when I hang up some tally balls.
I hope you like the “flying snow ball”
/
The Long-tailed Tit, Aegithalos caudatus, is a very small passerine bird. It breeds in most of Europe and Asia. It is a non-migratory species.
It is closely related to the true tits, and in winter it is often found with tit flocks.
This is a very small bird at only 13–15 cm in length including its very long tail, which itself makes up 7–9 cm of the total. The Long-tailed Tit is black and brown above and whitish below, with reddish flanks. It has a white crown. North European birds (A. c. caudatus) have completely white heads and flanks.
This is a restless species, constantly on the move as it searches for insects and other small food items. It is usually found in small flocks, and has been described as an avian sheep.
Long-tailed Tits are birds of deciduous woodlands with undergrowth. They nest in a tree or shrub. Six to twelve eggs are laid in a woven closed nest. The nest is held together with spider webs, and camouflaged with lichen. Adult birds will find a relative's nest and help feeding their "nephews and nieces", if their own nest is predated.
The call is loud trisyllabic srih-srih-srih.

Hej Gert,
A fantastic capture of the Long-tailed Tit. The POV and technical qualities are superb to show this little active bird at its best in a fine composition against a fine neutral BG.
Well done MF and thanks for sharing this delight!
I hope the future of TN will be more settled. Ulla and I will see what happens and we hope that we don't have to leave.
Hälsningar och trevlig helg!
Ivan

Hello Gert
I love this "flying snow ball", especially that is east-north european subspecies, with no bands on his head, revealing the small black eyes! Well done and TFS!

Hello Gert,
It's good to see the light again and you managed to get a superb capture of this little beauty! I expect it wasn't alone as they always seem to come in numbers. I haven't seen them for ages but heard them not long ago. I love your composition and details and colours are wonderful as is the background that makes it stand out. Very nice!!
Det känns trist just nu men vi avvaktar och ser vad som händer här. Jag gillar inte fotosidan heller längre - allt blir för stort och komplicerat!
TFS and all the best, Ulla

Gert,

First, I am relatively new to the site, but I too lost some good "friends" and very good photographers that I hoped to lean from. It is hard to make friends in less than 2 months, but my heart dropped when I went to their site yesterday and all their great photos were gone. I hope they come back, but I am not sure they will. At this point, I don't plan on leaving. I am glad I found you and hope to make you a photography friend in the future.

Now to the Picture at hand.

This is a very good shot of a bird we don't see in Northern Illinois. The international flavor of this site is one of the things that has kept me here. Your lighting and composition in just right. The catch light in the eye adds to the picture. The diagonal lean of the branch and the straight line of the tail make this a great picture.

Thanks - Bob

Hi Gert,

I would love to see one of these Tits in "real life." Another of your beautiful shots showing this bird off to full advantage. He looks so soft and fuzzy with lovely colors and fine details. I love the touch of yellow on the eye. A perfect pose on the diagonal branch to emphasize the long tail. I think many of us are sitting on the fence to see which way to go. Each time a good friend leaves it is like a death in the family.

Jane

Witaj Gert

Hello gert,
At first very happy that you decided to stay and like you say hoping that we can go back to the true spirit of TN.
The picture, like all your bird pictures is of great quality, not only from the technical point of view. Very pleasing composition to show this very quick bird, almost impossible to catch..To feed it might be a good idea:-)
Thanks
Have a nice weekend
Anne

Hi Gert.
TN is one of my rare sources of vital forces. My destiny is those. To lose friends is so painfully. I think TN is not the worst place for encouragement and friendship. I hope you understand me.

I know you like this species a lot. And I am impressed with every your shot of these birds. This diagonal composition is amazing. Both bird and twig are reproduced brilliantly with extreme sharpness and precise details, ultimate exposure and impressive magnification level. Neutral BG is great canvas for this picture. Thanks a lot for this work of art and best wishes.
Alexei.
