First I will thank all for the nice comments and words of my last post.

I hope the chaos is over for this time and I hope the old spirit will remain bur I doubt.
I’m really sad to see all old friends leave, I will miss them all.

This is a portrait of Eurasia Nuthatch or just Nuthatch (Sitta Europaea), nötväcka in Swedish.
It’s taken around my feeding station in a forest close to my Town Gävle, it was a beautiful day with good light and sunshine.
We have 3-4 of them and they are real nut thieves, they empty the nut feeder quickly but they do not eating, they hiding all the nuts, saving for later need. Often they forgot where they put the nuts but other birds do find the food so it really doesn’t matter that they carry away the nuts.
The nuthatch is the king around the feeders, the other bird don’t play with this guy with the long beak.;-))
And it's the only bird who can climb downward on a tree.
I hope you like Nötväckan

The Eurasian Nuthatch, Sitta europaea, is a small passerine found throughout temperate Europe and Asia, although not in Ireland. It belongs to the nuthatch family Sittidae.
This bird is the most common and most widespread nuthatch, and is often referred to just as the Nuthatch.
It is a resident bird of deciduous woods and parkland, with some old trees for nesting. It feeds on insects, seeds and nuts. Its old name “nut-hack” derives from its habit of wedging a nut in a crevice in a tree, and then hacking at it with its strong bill.
It has the ability, like other nuthatches, to climb down trees, unlike species such as woodpeckers which can only go upwards. It will come to bird feeding tables, and is then very aggressive, driving other species away.
The Eurasian Nuthatch is 14cm long and has the typical nuthatch big head, short tail and powerful bill and feet. It is blue-grey above, with a black eyestripe. Asian and north European birds (S. e. asiatica and S. e. europaea respectively) are white below except for chestnut in the vent area. The western European S. e. caesia has generally reddish underparts. Young birds are "washed out" versions of the adults.
Nests are in holes or crevices, lined with bark or grass. The size of the hole’s entrance may be reduced by the building of a neat mud wall. Five to eight eggs are laid, white speckled with red.
This is a noisy bird, often located by its repeated tui-tui-tui call

Hi Gert,

This is a beautiful Nuthatch with the snow on his beak! It is one of many birds I have seen only in pictures. The colors are wonderful - I love how the dark eye shines through the black eye line. The details of the blowing feathers are marvelous. A perfect background and lovely composition.

Hi Gert,

A great capture of the nuthatch with excellent colors and detail, probably it will be different on TN,but I think it can still be quite fun,it depends off course of the input of the people that stay (and/or might join),as the site is bigger with a lot more members (as in the first years)it is obvious that things have/are changed, imo you can compare it with a small village (where all people know eachohter) or a town, anyway I think it is still possible to have fun sharing pictures and when I can I will keep on posting,

Regards,
Paul

Hi my Old Friend!

I'm glad that at least we've got clear answer from IB. Pity that it came so late and many our firends gone :-( Great that you're still with us Gert!

Nuthach should be your logo ;-) You're master in photography of these birds. This one is no exception - so detailed and sharp, with very nice pose. And snow on its beak looks superb!

Extraordinary shot. The quality of reproduction of all even tiniest details and features of the bird is unlimited. Superb three-dimensional shot and terrific combination of DOF, sharpness and blurriness of the BG. I also like impressive cropping and framing of the charming bird. My congratulations and TFS.

Hello Gert,

I also feel very sorry for our friend determined to leave the site due to someone's incapacity of solving a simple problem.

This is a very special portret. The image is very fine with excelent sharpness and very nice colors. The light you have captured is beautifull creating delicate color tones over bird's plumage. The snow on the bill make the photo even better.

Congratulations,
Cristian

nitidez y perfecto plumaje,

Gert,

I am glad you are still posting. I am relatively new to TN but felt like I lost a number of new friends in the last few weeks. I have grown to appreciate you pictures and your critiques.

This is a lovely shot. The focus and sharpness are just right. I like the the way you cropped the shot to place emphasis on the beak with the snow flakes. The little light in the eye is a plus.

Thanks for posting this lovely picture.
