[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I have not post anything on TN for more than 5 months; but I have been here now and then and write some comments but I will give TN a new try.
This time I will use the 1-2 points system as i it was meant to use.

I start with a beautiful Brambling in his beautiful spring clothes.
It’s taken in April when the first Brambling return from the south.
This bird use to live in the north part of Sweden but in the winter they can be seen around the south parts.

The Brambling, Fringilla montifringilla, is a small passerine bird in the finch family Fringillidae.
This bird is widespread throughout the forests of northern Europe and Asia. It is migratory, wintering in southern Europe, north Africa, Northern Pakistan, north India, China and Japan. It regularly strays into Alaska during migration and may continue as far south as the western United States.
Open coniferous or birch woodland is favoured for breeding. It builds its nest in a tree fork, and decorates the exterior with moss or lichen to make it less conspicuous. It lays 4-9 eggs.
This species can form large flocks outside the breeding season, sometimes mixed with Chaffinches. These large gathering occur especially if there is a good supply of Beech nuts. The food is seeds, but unlike most finches, the young are fed extensively on insects.
The Brambling is similar in size and shape to a Chaffinch. Breeding-plumaged male Bramblings are very distinctive, with a black head, dark upperparts, orange breast and white belly. Females and younger birds are less distinct, and more similar in appearance to some Chaffinches. In all plumages, however, Bramblings differs from Chaffinches in a number of features: (i) Brambling has a white rump whereas that of Chaffinch is grey-green; (ii) the breast is orange, contrasting with a white belly on Brambling, whereas on Chaffinch the underparts of more uniformly coloured (pink or buff); (iii) Brambling's scapulars are orange, whereas Chaffinch's are grey or grey-brown; (iv) the flanks are dark-spotted on Brambling, plain on Chaffinch; (v) Bramblings lack the white outer tail feathers of Chaffinch. An additional difference for all plumages except breeding-plumaged males is the bill colour - yellow in Brambling, dull pinkish in Chaffinch (breeding-plumaged male Bramblings have black bills, Chaffinches in the corresponding plumage have grey bills

Hej Gert!
I'm surprised to see you back again but as the long winter comes upon us this is a nice way to spend the time!! Birds have been so scarce around here over the last six months, hopefully there'll be more this winter and I look forward to seeing the Bramblings again!
This is a lovely capture showing this male in a fine pose and in lovely colours. Great sharpness as usual and well composed.

Hi Gert . Its so good to see you back posting again on TN. I have missed your pictures and comments.
We have to wait until late December till we see the Brambling but its worth the wait .
You have taken a fine close up of this male which you have sharp focusing and fine detail in the feathers. Your use of the light has given natural colours. The orange stands out from the grey BG. All with interesting notes. TFS.

Nice to see you back and hopefully for a longer time again :)
Whatever your choice, i'm happy to see this lovely shot from you! The quality of your works is impeccable and i think anyone here can learn from it.
The Brambling here look amazing and is presented with loads of pin sharp details. The texture of the plumage - especially on and around the head - is impeccable and such a treat to watch.
Further more, the DOF is spot-on, blurring the BG very nicely and thus making the beautiful little bird standing out very nicely.
Finally, there is one details i'll refer to: the fact that you manage to expose this so well that you didn't even overexpose the bright branch it is on...most people don't take that into consideration when shooting a subject but it ends up being very distracting. You've done an exceptional job!

welcome back to TN, missed you a lot!
High precision tack sharp portrait of the Bergfink. Its subtle colours are standing out perfectly well against the distantly smooth gray background. Perfectly well balanced composition. A pleasure to study this masterpiece.
Birds are a very intelligent and wary target and therefore really difficult to capture in such a perfect qulity. Requiring a good hide, a lot of knowledge of their behaviour, precision tele-optics equipment, great focussing skills.
