Thanks for the nice comments and words of my previous post.

Today’s post is a rare butterfly, and I think it’s rare on TN too.
It’s a Silvery Argus (Plebejus nicias), Turkos Blåvinge.
This one lives in the North part of Sweden where the south border is just where I live.
Of course it’s on the red list.
I took this on our Butterfly Road (Fjärilsvägen) just outside my town Gävle.
I hope you like this one. I think Ivan will love this

Some small info.
The Silvery Argus (Plebejus nicias) is a butterfly of the Lycaenidae family. It is found in the Alps, Pyrenees and from Scandinavia ranging to Siberia and the north of Mongolia.
The wingspan is 25-28 mm. The butterfly flies from May to August depending on the location. The larvae feed on Geranium species.

Hej Gert!
Of course I love it!
This is a fresh-looking male Turkos Blåvinge resting with open wings and taken with superb sharpness and DOF to provide a fine contrasting BG.
You make me enthusiastic to try next year at Grinduga Fjärilsvaägen!
Thanks and have a nice weekend,
Hälsningar,
Ivan

Hi Gert. I am sure Ivan will like as so will many others. I am one of them that for sure. Nature has made such a perfect butterfly. Which you have taken a first class picture. From you POV we can see the open wing markings. Which you have taken with bright colours. Well seen and TFS.
Nick..

have a good weekend.

Hi Gert,

Really a very impresive set!... I like the green leaf in background, this provide very additional structure in the photo. No words for the butterfly, it's perfect!

Hi Gert,
it is difficult to surprise the TN community with new Blues, many have been presented before. And then you come along and swipe the floor (so to speak) with this wonderfully posing and rarely presented P. nicias! Of course Ivan loves it, others as well! You could almost count the blue scales if necessary. And no flash used. Niiiice.
My best regards from rainy Switzerland
Dietrich

hello Gert,
Very happy to see this butterfly in such a beautiful picture. This is a species which lives around my chalet in Valais and I have made some pictures , but not of the quality of your picture. Very simple and beautiful composition, perfect sharpness, like always. Very fine and natural colors too.

Hello Gert,
Fantastic photo in a lovely diagonal composition. The details and sharpness are perfect. Great isolation from the OOF BG in splendid colours and DOF. What a beauty!
TFS and regards,
Peter

I have not seen one Gert...so perhaps you are correct...and becuase of the bluish appearance I think I shall add it to one of my blue themes....I have a number of butterfly's buried on those vaults on TN and some only come a bit close to this but not nearly the same at all...Fine for its rarity and excellent for its technicality!
Bob

hello Gert!
perfect exposure for this macro of tiny lycaenidae....good details and definition

Hello Gert,
You post a gorgeous blue butterfly posed in a fine position. The detail is exceptional and the colors are amazing!! Perfectly exposed with wonderful DOF!! Super capture!!

Dear Gert,
an excellent, very precise, eye-catching presentation of P. nicias, a species that has rarely been shown here yet. Marvellous details, shining bright light perfectly managed to bring out finest hues of iridescent blue. Well supporting distant background with structures that are adding some quite spectacular dramatical tension. A masterpiece.
Thank you! With best regards,
Peter

Hi Gert.
I cannot imagine more nice POV. Composition of the picture and pose (wingspread) of the butterfly. Illumination, reproduction of all tiniest details and attractive features of the butterfly are exceptional. We can see every hair of the insect and every colour tones. I also like a lot pleasant smooth BG and very attractive inclined leaf as a cute "stage" for pictured small beauty. Extra-class work. Thanks a lot and kind regards.
