| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Last summer we went on a orchid- and birdsafari for nearly two weeks to the northern parts of Sweden. On the mountain station Storulvåns fjällstation we did daily hikes up in the alps.
The Golden Plover (Pluvialis apricaria/Ljungpipare) is quite prominent there. Partly because of it's beauty but also because it shows itself so clearly trying to draw attention away from it's nest. It succeeded to draw my attention anyway, so this seems to be a successful strategy.... ;o)
I used a rather simple but very portable camera for this photo, Together with the extender from Raynox it gave me nearly 1000 mm in a very wearable package. Unfortunately this setup often gives some CA (chromatic abberation) but I removed that with the Color fringe reducer action in Photoshop CS3.

Hej Bengt,
Nice portrait of a Golden Plover in breeding plumage. This is sharp and well-composed and the PPwork made it a good presentation.
TFS and best wishes,
Hälsningar, Ivan

What a gorgeous bird, Bengt. : )
I love the markings and colors on this golden plover.
Your sharp details and excellent exposure bring them out nicely.
Perfect POV and DOF.
TFS. : )
Hello Bengt,
This is a very interesting specie that I see for the first time I think. This is a nice bird with superb colors and patterns. You had a good POV and this is a good composition too. I feel the noise reduction on the bird but it is still a nice and unusual post. Thanks,
Claudine
