This is a The Edible Snail (Helix pomatia), vinbergssnäcka and it’s
our largest land snail, it can be 10cm long and can weight around 30gram.
It’s also called Burgundy snail or Roman Snail and is species of land gastropod of family Helicidae. It is frequently farmed and is called escargot when used in cooking.
But this one is wild and I don’t think I will be that hungry I will eat it.
I took this early in the morning with an overcast sky so the shutters peed was very long but since this is a very slow animal I got a decent shot.

Morning Gert,
Just the right amount of DOF, nicely blurred BG. The composition/POV is Excellent! As snail captures go, a 10/10 :)
Very well done.
Howard

Hello Gert,
This really is something else than the colorful shots I'm used to see from you :)
Not that it is'nt as wonderful like the colored ones, because it is.
Lovely details, light, lines and patterns.
Wonderful how the snail and branch do stand out against the greens in the background.
Excellent work again as it comes to sharpness and lighting and the composition with the diagonall line og branch and snail is perfect.
Thanks for sharing and the good note.
Regards and have a nice day,
Harry

Very interesting contrasts in texture between the rough wood, the moist mottled snail itself, and its striated shell. Great sharp image with good colors. Well done.

Hej Gert,
Wow, this is a delicacy to some! I must admit I've never tried it but they say it is delicious! We have plenty in the garden! Very fine capture, Gert, and snails seem to have been neglected so far on TN! I really like your composition showing it sharply in its natural environment.
Many thanks and cheers, Ulla

Hi Gert,
Great marco, you have got more DOF at f7.1. The beautiful tones (used tone because of the monochrome like quality)makes this one stand out from the usual colourful ones we see. TFS

Hej Gert,
Excellent capture of vinbergssnäckan that shows both the shell and the snail in the best way with good sharpness and superb composition on a sloping branch against a blurred green BG.
Well done and TFS!

Hello Gert
No blues(however...) and yellows to detect...
Nevertheless a superb image; for example I do like the light and the details...
Beautiful!

Well done TFS.
Nick..

Perfect in sharpness and light and such a nice moment. Hi Gert, I like your friend with the house on the backside. And it's funny how similar the names of some things are in different languages, but also nearly the same: In Germany we call it Weinbergschnecke.
Sounds similar to Vinbergssnäcka.
Bye and greetings

Wow, amazing textures in this snail, Gert!
Also a beautiful palette of browns.
He does not seem too worried about your presence.
Just going about his business... slowly.
Great composition. TFS. : )

Hi Gert,
I am unable to understand that how this come out great even if the slow shutter speed. No matter that the snail is slow but its antennae are always fluctuating. Does Alfa DSLR got an in built Image Stabilizer? Please help. A very nicely captured snail shot with excellent details and very good composition and POV. Thanks a lot for sharing.

Hi Gert,
Great photo of something that I would never eat. It's an interesting looking little creature but not appetizing at all. Fantastic focus and exposure. Overall, an outstanding capture.

Great shot of this big snail Gert.
I've heard they're quite nice in a bit of garlic butter.
I wondered whether the blue coudn't come down just a notch in this shot,or is it really this grey ?
Its a lovely photo anyway.
Well done.

Hi Gert.
This summer there are many large snails as yours in my garden after rains. I must say rain was only two or three times since New Year. I like take them with my new 24-105 Minolta lens. At poor light conditions the exposure time is short enough. But Tamron is Tamron and quality of the shot is outstanding. Sharpness is razor. Colours are superb as well as the pictured scene, direct POV and nice detailed and blurred at the same time BG. Bravo. Excellent job.
Alexei.

Edible you say? Do you think I could buy some on eBay?

Seriously, well as much as I can be, this is as fine a shot as all of yours I have had time to go through...so count this as my 1000 points ok? There is nothing technically, nor esthetically with your picture. Should I dare say it?! Good show!

Bob

Bonjour Gert
Superbe capture.Quelle netteté dans les détails et excellentes couleurs de cet escargot.Belle diagonale qui le met en valeur
Amitiés

Hello Gert,

This is a very sharp picture of a common animal! I like the diagonal composition and the soft green background. The textures in the snail and its shell are amazing! I can almost feel the moisture of its skin. Exposure is perfect! You captured even the reflections of the light in the skin without over exposing them. Well done! Just one question: what does S/H-filter stand for? Thanks for posting!

With Friendly Regards,
Eddie
