Today’s post is also a beautiful butterfly, a Comma, that I captured during my vacation in Värmland.
It is normally a very common butterfly up here
I hope you like it.
/
The comma is a beautiful, common butterfly. The wings have scalloped edges, and the undersides are strikingly similar in appearance to dead leaves; an excellent camouflage for hibernating adults. The upper surface of the wings have a rich orange hue with dark brown blotches and the common name ‘comma’ refers to the presence of a prominent white comma-shaped marking on the underwing. The black caterpillars are flecked with white and orange, and have a large white patch on the back that creates a remarkable resemblance to bird droppings, a trait that protects them from potential predators

The shape of this butterfly's wings is so interesting. Gert.
I like this capture very much with all its brilliant colors.
Fantastic POV and very sharp details.
TFS. : )

Hi Gert,
very bright and clear image of "Robert le diable" as they call that pretty butterfly in France. A fresh specimen that shows its ragged contours and striking colours very well. The strong sunshine creates well saturated colours, strong contrasts and a lovely shadow. The well focussed surface structures of the leaf go very well together with the strctures and marking of wings, and the colour combination of juicy green and red brown is aesthetically very pleasing.
Thank you! Best regards,
Peter

Hi Gert !
This butterfly may be very common, it is still very beautiful ! I love the shape of its wings, and its warm color is very nice too. Excellent details and textures on the wings, wonderful composition and POV, and a nice contrast between green and orange. Very well done !
Valérie.

Hi Gert

Indeed a very beautiful butterflu! Interesting name - Comma...he look rather like a Napalm, judging after its wings :)

Excellent POV considering the posture of the wings, lovely natural colors, very good sharpness, great management of the strong light, well framed and composed.

Bravo and TFS

Bonita presentación por su colorido, el contraste de la mariposa sobre el verde de la hoja y un buen DOF y nitidez.
Adecuado encuadre y elección del recorte.
Bien hecho Gert... una vez más.
Saludos cordiales... Ricardo

Beautiful presentation for their coloring, the contrast of the butterfly above the green of the leaf and a good DOF and clarity.
