This is my first post for 6 weeks. It was Luc’s return today after has been away for almost 4 months who inspire me to post again.
This is a Rubby Darter or black Darter (female), it’s the only species with black legs.
I think it’s a Rubby Darter.

/
Widespread and locally common in suitable sites. Adults can be seen between mid June and September. The Ruddy Darter is found in fens, cutover bogs and small lakes including turloughs. There is some evidence for immigration.
This species is most likely to be confused with the Red-veined Darter Sympetrum fonscolombei and the Common Darter Sympetrum striolatum however the latter is more orange-red and has a straight sided abdomen and yellow stripes on the legs. Female Ruddy Darters are similar to female Black Darters Sympetrum danae however in the former there is no black triangular marking on the thorax.

Ricardo

Thank you to return my friend.
And you make it with a wonderful macro with excellent POV, perfect diffuse bottom, the same as the colors, sharpness and DOF.
Very accurate framing with the smoothly inclined hanger.
A beautiful presentation... and a great happiness to have you among us.
My best wishes... Ricardo

Hej Ellis,
Great to see you back again! And with an excellent shot of the Ruddy Darter. Fantastic focus on head and abdomen - I think he's moving his eye a bit like they do all the time! I love the colours and the composition!
Thanks and best wishes, Ulla

Hi Gert, what a beautiful photo - you inspire me to get out there and learn more and more. TFS

Hi Gert,
thanks for this razor-sharp dragonfly with the brilliant colours and this beautiful pose. 1/30sec. - that only can be sharp with a tripod - but I always wonder how you place the tripod so quick and the insect doesn't fly away. Wonderful, thanks for sharing, bye

Hi Gert,
exquisite colours, crisp and clear details, and a very inspiring composition of great subtlety and quintessential reduction.
Good to see a posting from you again, Gert.
Thank you! Best regards,

Hello Gert,
beautiful colours and sharpness. The body of the dragonfly contrasts so clearly and sharply against the background. The focus plane is just right ranging from the head up to the end of the body. An excellent and well composed 'come-back' picture.
Best wishes, Peter

Hi Gert.
It is the nice answer to our hopes, expectations and prays. TN without you is not TN. Welcome, our dear friend and Teacher.

It is the exemplary picture showing as it is necessary to achieve excellent accuracy, to work with light and paints and to build an amazing composition. I like its details and sharpness of the main subjects, great impressive and colourful BG. Bravo and my best regards.

Alexei.

Hi Gert,

Good to see you drop in. :) The photo is very nice. I like the light you have on the critter. Very sharp details as usual.

How is the Sony treating you? Don't you miss the Canon?? Did you have problems to get lenses for it??

Sorry for the questions but I am curious. :)

Good to see you posting again, so many of the long-time members have given up.

Brilliant sharpness, great composition and background. Very nice.

Hello Gert,

A lot has been said about you these last weeks. We have never had the chance to exange critiques in the past since I am relativly a newcomer on Trek. I read about your situation and feelings on your 500th post and I intirely agree with you. First of all, I hope you are feeling better with your arthrosis and carpal tunnel syndrome. Second, since I am a member of Trek, I did notice that many people don't write notes and don't write decent and appropriate critiques. Is it not the goal of Trek to have constructive and honest critiques for all of us to better are self with photography! Personnaly, I try to encourage new commers to achieve that objective and I also concentrate my critiques to deserving one's that follow that goal. I realy hope that many of us will understand that and will take the proper course of action in the future when posting pictures or writing comments.
Now, as for this picture, you have a nice composition here with the angle branch and your main subject (the dragonfly) is overall well balanced in the frame. As usual good details and sharpness, except for the tip of the wings. Could it be caused by the 1/30 second exposure or limited DOF? You did a fine job in PP as I can see in your notes. The blurry BG (common with macro lens) is realy nice and bring are attention to the subject. Good work!
Hope to see you posting a picture from time to time as you feel up to it.

Regards,

PC :)
