This is the second post with the my new equipment, a beautiful Red Admiral.
I took it this morning, I have found 3 Red Admiral butterflies the last days.
I can say that a 400mm lens is not the best for close-ups but it works.
I am waiting for my Sigma 180mm Macro. I am not familiar with this Sony yet but it delivers very nice picture, in this, I have some OE parts on the wings, I have to find out more of exposure metering.

This familiar and distinctive insect may be found anywhere in Britain and Ireland and in all habitat types.
Starting each spring and continuing through the summer there are northward migrations, which are variable in extent and timing, from North Africa and continental Europe. The immigrant females lay eggs and consequently there is an emergence of fresh butterflies, from about July onwards. They continue flying into October or November and are typically seen nectaring on garden buddleias or flowering Ivy and on rotting fruit.

There is an indication that numbers have increased in recent years and that overwintering has occurred in the far south of England.

I have been looking some weeks ago at this Sony, they sent me an online seminary invitation to present it to me as Sony registered user. It has very interesting specifications and new features. I wondered how it works, and now I will be able to see it with an expert user :)
This fisrt one is really promising. Why did you decide on buying this one and not a experimented DSRL like canon or nikon?
Regards, Felipe.
PD: hope you enjoy your new toy.

Hallo Gert,
Superb shot. Very sharp and clear. Superb details. Nicely composed, good blurry BG. Great close up picture.

Your new equipment seems to work very well. I like the colors of the butterfly in front of the very saturated green background. Did you increase the saturation somewhat in Photoshp? You say you used Photoshop for PP, what do you mean with PP?

What do you think of the 400 lens after two days? Have you used it for more normal telephotos as well?

very nice one Gert,
well it's quality, quality with your new camera, congratiolation with it, good job.

hi gert, getting to know a new camera can be a real pain but worth it in the end.
The detail of the head and antenae looks very good and sharp as do the colours, but the focus seems to be only on the head the nearer parts seem soft. does the camera have selectable focus areas I found with the D200 which shares the same CCD that often I am selecting to use the bottom of the frame area for focusing on the nearest part of the subject.
TFS and keep them coming yours Robert

Hi Gert.
I wonder that waht you will send today. There is a fantastic and lovely butterflay that is came from you. Because we use same camera and we, who uses sony a100, are alone on this site. But your lens is better and more suitable macro shutting than mine. Well done it. Please visit my page an look at my last posts.
Also have a problem with viewfinder. I wear glasses and if I took out it, I can not see. With glasses, too difficult to see the target object very clearly and sahrp in viewfinder. Have you a suggestion for me?
Regards.
Fevzi
