[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I’m back from my holiday, 2 weeks in Värmland. It was a rainy and cold holiday,
only 2-3 days with sun and blue sky so I didn’t take much pictures.
I got this Bee Beetle when it was resting on ox-eye daisy, it was very common in this area
I used my Tamron 200-500mm with a monod for this shot.
I hope you like him.

Bee Beetle
Trichius fasciatus
Length 14mm
An extremely hairy beetle with wasp- or bee-like black and orange-yellow markings on elytra; thorax and abdomen buffish brown. Adults seen from JuneSeptember and visit flowers including thistles and thyme. Mostly associated with upland areas.

Tamron SA AF 200-500 DI,
ISO 200, RAW-format, AV-mode. Monopod.
Levels, Contrast, Crop, S/H-filter. resized to 800 pixels, Smart Sharpen PP in PS CS3.

Have a nice weekend

Hej Gert!
Welcome back from the rains in Värmland. Scania is now too wet for photography.
This is a superb capture of the Banded Brush Beetle, very nicely composed on an Oxe-eye Daisy flower and set against a fine BG.
It isn't often one can get him to show his head on a photo so you did well with that too.
TFS,
Hälsningar,
Ivan

Välkommen tillbaka! Fick du brungräsfjärilen?

Bonjour,
C'est toujours intéressant de voir comme ces insectes laissent traîner leurs pattes.
Bonne journée.

Hi Gert. Have not seen one before so thanks for posting this. excellent detail and rich colours. very sharp focusing. The yellow of the flower stads out well. with a nice POV. very well done TFS.
Nick..have a good weekend

Pity you've had so many rainy days during your holiday Gert, but what you are showing us here is a great macro.
Everything fits perfectly together in this image.
Composition, exposure, sharpness and clarity are awsome.
Details, colors, color contrast and soft lighting are most wonderful.
All in all a very beautiful image wich is a grat joy to look at.
Only thing I would have done more to this image is using Neat Image or Noise Ninja to make the background a little smoother.
Thanks for sharing.
Have a great weekend.
Kindest regards, Harry

Hi Gert

Wow, you are really getting the hang of this BIG lens and I am sure it is only through your great skill and advanced experience that you manage to shoot such excellent "macro" shots with it. One thing is clear as daylight though; you must have had a brilliant sunny day to shoot this scene at f/10 aperture and still managed to attain 1/640 seconds shutter speed.

The details are "shockingly" sharp for this configuration and considering that it was done at maximum focal length (500mm) it makes it so much more of an achievement. However, I am sure you also used your normal tripod setup although the "Photo Information" does not disclose that fact. The composition is great and although the little beetle were placed dead centre the flower provides the required balance. The amazing BG ensures total focus on the subjects and since the shot only contains the beetle and the flower there is nothing else to distract the eye in any way. The exposure was superb with perfect contrast on the white petals of the flower as well as in the black areas on the insect.

Great work MF and TFS.
Regards
Loot

PS. I am really sorry to hear that you are still experiencing problems with your wrists and that your mini vacation rained out. At least, if it is any consolation, you have not lost your magical touch operating behind a camera lens.

Hello Gert,
This is super nice photo!
best pov for the captured with total sharpness and details
well composed and well seen
thanks for sharing

Hello Gert,
I don't know how you always manage to take such incredibly sharp pictures. Despite the rainy weather, you managed to capture this bee and flower in all their glory. The exposure is perfect, yielding beautiful colors.
An excellent composition of this designer beetle climbing out of a partial flower appearing from the corner of the frame. I think that accentuates the movement and the direction of the bug.
A fantastic macro.
I hope you are well, my friend.
Take care of yourself, and TFS. : )

Hej Gert,
I'm sorry to hear you had rain in Värmland and I expect the rain is continuing with you now too. Here it's been bucketing down for three days! Still, I expect you had time to get a few super shots like this one! Fantastic sharp focus and great details of this common beetle and the daisy. Lovely colours too in this perfect composition.
Many thanks and keep smiling in the rain! Ulla

Hello Ellis,
Congratulation for this shot. At first it is of great sharpness, has a pleasant composition and beautiful light. The plus is also that you got this Bee beetle with the head! It normally always hides it. Bravo.
