This is a Crested Tit, Tofsmes or as Micke and I call it the Punker.
I really like the hairdo of the small bird. 12cm long with a wingspan 17-20 cm.
This is a restless and very quick bird, must faster than the Long-tailed tit.
You can find him in Northern Europe and in France and Iberian peninsula.
It’s quite common but since it’s so small and mobile it’s hard to see.
This is taken from our hide.

/
The Crested Tit, Lophophanes cristatus (formerly Parus cristatus), is a passerine bird in the tit family Paridae. It is a widespread and common resident breeder in coniferous forests throughout central and northern Europe and in deciduous woodland in France and the Iberian peninsula. In Great Britain, it is restricted to the ancient pinewoods of the Spey Valley in Scotland, an area some 30 miles in length and two or three miles wide, and seldom strays far from its haunts. A few vagrant Crested Tits have been seen in England. It is resident, and most birds do not migrate.
It is an easy tit to recognise, for besides its erectile crest, the tip of which is often recurved, its gorget and collar are distinctive. It is, like other tits, talkative, and birds keep up a constant zee, zee, zee Birdsong (help•info), similar to that of the Coal Tit .
It makes a nest in a hole in rotting stumps. This bird often feeds low down in trees, but although not shy, it is not always easily approached. It will join winter tit flocks with other species.
Like other tits, it feeds on insects, including caterpillars, and seeds.

Hello Gert,
Didn't even know there was a Crested tit; always think in terms of Great tit and so forth...Actually a very beautiful tit. You photographed it very well; overall sharp. It is definitely proud to display its crest:-)
Well done

Hi Gert,
A cool looking blue tit and I really dig that hair style! A lovely composition with it perched diagonally on the branch. The detail is also really good as you can even see the grains of frost on the branch.Good natural colour and exposure with the DOF making it really stand out.All in all of the highest quality.Have a great year!
Regards, David

Hej Gert,
Perfect profile of this pretty little bird that we see here quite a lot but it moves about very quickly and the only time it settles for any length of time is on the Peanuts which is irritating! The details here are so amazing against the uncluttered background. Great work again!
Many thanks! Ulla

Hi Gert,
A very artistic image!
I like the way you composed the picture with the close approach and great details got on the Tit.
It is so beauty that special green tone got on the background.
Congratulations and thanks for share it.
My best regards,
JM

Hi Gert

I am convinced that a chorus of Oooohs and Aaaahs would still go up in response to this beauty. I never in my life thought I would have any "flattering" words to say about a punk rocker, but this little guy ROCKS (as in heavy metal rock).

Astonishing visual impact.

Wow, I just love it. Technically it is flawless. The composition with the birdie and the branch placed on the diagonal is gorgeous. The sharp details, amazing contrasts, and stunning colours are breathtakingly beautiful. The OOF and evenly colour BG is totally removed and perfectly complimentary to the subject and the exposure was absolutely spot on.

Remarkable work MF and TFS.
Regards
Loot

PS. This little Punk can come around my place at any time and I would welcome it with open arms without any prejudice, resistance, or intolerance (chuckle).

Hi Gert,

A very nice capture and as ulla already mentioned, quite hard to capture, you did great on this one,I see that you captured it with ISO 800 and still good sharpness and detail, only pity that you see some spots where you as I presume cloned away some branches, anyway thanks for this upload, have a nice sunday

Hej Gert,
Another beauty to take my hat off to! This is pretty faultless and the composition, POV and BG are superb. We have one visiting our feeder but unfortunately as it has a cancerous growth over one side of its face it cannot be photographed.
Today we had about an hour of hazy sunshine!
Thanks for sharing this beautiful 'punker'
Hälsningar,
Ivan

he my old friend Gert Ellstrom,

Dear Gert
How much will you charge me for bed and breakfast? I surely would love to have the opportunity to sit in your hide for a day or two. But on the other hand I don’t think a day or two will be enough judging by the amount of excellent bird photos I have seen that you have taken from there. These Swedish birds are real beauties. Even the "Punk rockers" are not bad looking. I actually mean the feathery kind of birds, not the human types. This looks to me like a real cheeky little bird, and with its feathers standing up straight like that, I am sure it had a ride on a motorcycle without a helmet. Although tiny and dainty this bird looks quite mischievous. The snowflakes on the branch add a delightful finishing touch to this photo. Like always it was a pleasure looking and admiring one of your photos and although I cannot add some points it is a pity because this one needs more than one. I hope you can hear me clapping because you are getting a standing ovation. Thanks for sharing.
Kind regards
Anna

Hi Gert,
Your "punker" looks very good. The crest is held high, just like the Blue Jay when it's alarmed..
An excellent POV and composition. Lovely detail, color, and the bokeh is outstanding :)
Well done!

Fantastic, just fantastic!!! Bird is cute, pose, BG, diagonal composition and quality are PERFECT! Congratulations for this great shot Gert.

I'm still trying to take first good pictures with my new cam, but it is hard - very few sunny days, especially weekends. I'm waiting for Spring :-)
